How Long *Should* a warranty part take to get in?
How Long *Should* a warranty part take to get in?
well it's been over a month now since my shifter just randomly broke below the ball. I've been driving it as is until they get me a new shifter. The service department at the dealership says my part is still on back order.... funny... they are building almost several hundred of these cars a month but they have a back order on the shifter? I smell B.S here. I got all my other parts in such as my stock replacement rear valance and the coolant mount that holds my coolant lines in front of the supercharger but no shifter.
This thing broke on me before I went on vacation
that was August 5th. It's now September 7th. Anyone have a number to call GM? I feel like reporting my dealership to them for giving me a run around. They told me two weeks ago it would be in and then they keep changing there story.
I just want the damn thing in one piece before I put it in storage for the winter
. Suggestions?

What dealer are you going to ? Why not try and go down to dealer on maple (mike something?) ? Your in the detroit metro area.. there is crapload of chevy dealers in that area... Maybe somebody can actually get you the part you need ?
Call Chevy's Customer Assistance: 1-800-222-1020
Call them on the BS. That shifter is also used in SAABs as well (can't remember the model...my friend's dad has one in his convertible), it's not like it's a specialty part and like you said they make thousands of these vehicles.

Also had the muffler changed after the baffles went on the old one..............but feels great now..........even better than before.!!!!!!!!
if a part is backordered, there isn't a thing the dealer can do about it! Why would a dealer give u the runaround? if its back ordered that means there isn't any around to sell, ya they are still building cars with the parts, but thats cuz they have enough to build the new cars just not to sell. Yes it sucks, but you could buy a B&M shifter and then go to the dealer and tell them that you just couldn't wait any longer and that you thing GM should refund you for having to buy after market stuff. i have had guys that had to buy starters and other things at jobber shop to get them going and GM has given them there money back.
Yes i do work at a Chevrolet dealer, i go through this **** every day. at least you can drive your car. try having your duramax that cost 60000 CND sit on the lot for 5 weeks cuz it needs injectors and there are none anywhere.
