InterCooler Cleaning

Just spray it off like any other part of the car? or do you have to do something different?

Yeah. You have to take it out of the car manually by first removing the radiator, then all the hoses in the way. Once it's out of the car and clear from any obstacles, you have to use a soft or medium-bristled toothbrush to get the debris from the ridges.

Me, I just spray the **** out of it. :P

Noobs! You do have an intercooler, technically an aftercooler but better known as an intercooler. It is located between the intake manifold and blower. Oh the hypocrisy.

I just said that so some asswipe didn't quote my post and say no it is an aftercooler. All cooling devices on cars are technically aftercoolers except for some twin-charged systems. But they are all known as intercoolers and are widely accepted as so. So the Cobalt SS/SC does indeed have an INTERCOOLER!

GM's Ecotec four-cylinder gets a serious makeover in the SS. First its displacement was reduced from 2.2 liters to 2.0 liters, then an Eaton Supercharger blowing through an air-to-water intercooler was installed. Other improvements include revised cylinder heads, sodium-filled valves, a forged steel crankshaft and oil-jet cooling for the pistons.

A compact Eaton M62 Roots-type positive displacement supercharger is used because of its immediate response traits – there’s no “lag” when more power is called up by the driver. It makes a maximum of 12 psi of boost and is bolstered by an air-to-water intercooler. The intercooler cools the heated air charge before it reaches the engine, increasing the density of air to increase power and reducing the propensity of detonation at high rpm and high boost levels.
