Just Bought an 07 Cobalt SS/SC, what to do 1st
Just need some of you more experienced guys to point me in the right direction of what to do first, i wanna get the car running its best before i even think about modding, does the SC coolant/fluid ever need to be changed, and how hard is an oil change on these cars, thanks guys. i came from a background of small block chevys and LS1/6 engnies and working modding and tuning those so im not a complete noob to fast cars, just not knowledgeable on 4cyl FWD Boosted cars. thanks
Coolant in these cars are supposed to be good for years... I'm think I heard 7 years or sumthing like that..
Oil changes are fairly simple.. the filter is a bit of a pain to get at, but ya do it once and you'll get the knack....
Modding on these cars really are endless. Depends what you're after. Power? Handling? Appearance?
The mods are never ending and there's always something to do ...
Good luck !!!

before you do an oil change you might want to stick some seafoam through her.. i bought an 06' with 68000 and i noticed a difference after i seafoamed her.. you just never know how the previous owner maintained the car...also you might want to bring her into the dealership to see if there are any recalls out on your car...I was smelling gas when I first had picked mine up and come to find out the dealership had a recall on my fuel pump and said I'm lucky I did not end up with a CAR B Q.... and had to get the power steering replaced also under recall..
I gotta learn to drive it (1st stick car) before I can start modding it o have a chance to wash and wax it, but it's victory red and completly stock and the 1st thing I did was remove the front plate lol.
Check to see if power steering recall was done.
Get the updated timing chain tensioner
Check to see if ic pump is working. Get ready to buy a new one soon they only last a few years.
Get ready to buy a new thermostat, they crap out around 70k.
Replace end links, cabs and sway bar bushings and you'll be clunk free for a while, but unfortunately not rattle free.

Yep replace the mounts as well. That was my very first mod. Couldn't punch it without the car hoping, felt like I was going to snap the axle. Definitely tranny mounts should be first mod
Yea I read that the supercharged cars need premium has so that's what I'm running, the car gets so much better mpg than my LS1 camaro it got 13mpg in town babying it the whole way lol.
alright guys first mod is on the car and it is... the Air Box Mod, i have a few pic's before and after and the filter cost me only 26.68 with tax and boy it was well worth it, the supercharger whines like a 4 year old in walmart and the throttle response is sweet. i will post pics as soon as they upload.
Nice I'm in the same boat as you, I did the airbox mod also as my first mod. I just finished ordering a zzp 2.5" downpipe and getting the badmab header on Friday
. And I can't wait to continue modding. I'm sub'd for your project and good luck.

Thanks, I just took off the chevy bow tie on the deck lid and GM Square on the fender and blacked out all the lights on the rear and side markers and now it's a totally different car I love it.
