I got 26.4 MPG on the city on an 8 mile drive to school... Bet i can get more once my K&N intake breaks in and the computer adjusts to the new intake

An intake doesn't "break in". It doesn't have any moving parts.

I hope you actually get better milage.

I'm pretty sure its from the computer learning the new air readings and handling it better.

I have only filled my tank once, but on my first tank i averaged 27 mpg. Mostly city driving but there was about 90 miles of highway too.

you are correct. since the ecu determines how much fuel to add for the temperature and rate the air is coming in as it is passing the maf sensor there is a 'break in' type period where the ecu is determining the correct values to allow the car to drive smoothly. I don't know the exact value but there is a range where the computer will operate within to keep the car stable and adding an intake will allow the car to run in a closer to optimal range ... sometimes the car can't reach that level and you get a lean code so then you have to tune the car to allow for your new abilities from the intake.
