New Transmission Question
See my whole idea of going "big turbo" is out the window for this car. The trans is too much of a let down and why buy a quick spooling turbo if you're going to boost ramp it. In my area, having a k04 on 22.5 psi is plenty to beat most of the cars around town. Big turbos on the lnf just seem to be for dyno numbers. But in all honesty I feel all the "usable" power for the street can be accomplished with the stock turbo. Now on the other hand, if u plan on track days or roll racing past 130 mph then yeah I would say a larger turbo is for you. Remember though this is just my opinion. Hope no one takes it to heart.

Nobody seen this thread I guess. Pay to play my dudes. Im gonna throw 1 of these in next winter after I put that k04r on this summer then big turbo it. Ppl try to go ***** to the wall way to early for these cars lol u have to have safety nets befor u go for big power. With any car u don't see 1000hp cars with stock parts. Cobalts with 400+hp is hardcore for these cars thats a fact. Some ppl need a driver mod befor even messing with big turbos anyways.

Alright just like I said before I'll get upper charge pipe, e85 tune, do I really need stage 1 cams with fuel pump lobe? I'm going to have zzp do all that. What whp should I be expecting from those mods?
Don't do cams with the stock turbo imo. Fuel lobe mabe, it can go in stock cams as well, way cheaper then s1 cams with Fuel lobe. Get fully bolted and a good e85 tune. When ppl say get full bolt ons they mean get rid of the plastic sht.. Also a downpipe is way more flow the stock DP. U can still break other stuff then the trans that's like that's on the list to be worried about haha
Personally i think breaking the trans has less to do with torque than most think. I think the issue stems more from people putting puck clutches and super sticky tires on their cars. If the engagement is too harsh your going to blow the trans. Likewise if your getting horrible wheel hop, that is also a trans killer.
While a boost ramp will certainly help, i think getting a full faced clutch as well as a reasonable summer tire would do the trans a lot better.

Zzp said I should get the s1 cams but it seems like not many people have them with stock turbo. I already have cat dp, intercooler, intake, zzp pcm. So I will get the upper charge pipe and an e85 hptune? I'll probably keep the zzp canned tune on 93 and then buy another pcm with e85 on it. Bcs I don't know how to tune myself and zzp will be doing all this work
In all honestly it's the fast torque that kills the trans.
So there is a few things to keep in mind.
Most people blow there trans at over 400wtq.
You are more likely to get near 400 wtq with the k04 if you tune it aggressively. And in turn it will boost super fast..
If you want 300-320whp most do it with 350-380wtq
If you swap out for the ZFR you run into similar fast spool issues BUT to get into those dangerous torque numbers your hp window is allot higher.
Say 400whp-350-380wtq
Retune for some boost tmap and you actually come out IMO safer and faster then the k04.
This isn't 100% of the time as lightly modded cobalts have ruined 3rd gear (possibly more of a driver mod issue) but it still happens. More power= higher likely good of issues.

E85 tune and fuel lobe upgrade alone would net very similar gains as the s1 cams with fuel lobe uograd (on the stix turbo)
