Different states offer different octane levels due to different laws.

Our Chevron premium is 94.

Most others (Esso- Shell etc) is 93.

That is in the Greater Vancouver area. The interior of BC only has 92 max at the Chevron's.

93 is only back east(ish), or really hard to find here. I was talking to one of my dads friends whos and engine builder and he said the LS7 corvette motor, requires premeium, but has an east coast tune, and a west coast tune. He said they have to do that because the fuel (so they call it) is so bad compared to the east coasts fuel they have to use a less agressive tune up for here.

You missed the point. Point is, 87 to 90 octane = X difference but 90 to 93 doesn't= X difference. Seems like the higher you go the less benefit there is. But yes i can get 93, 92 octane all over by where I live. 100 and 108 if i want to pay like 4.00 and 8.00 per gallon, but that's just stupid.

Yes it is "fine" to run 87 in the 2.4L BUT GM does recomend premium. Obviously to get the full 171hp you do need premium.
