Odyssey Battery
Who here has one? I'm looking into getting a good battery that'll last me awhile and intend to get an Odyssey and want to know if there is one that's a direct fit and if i could get a part number for it. I'm also looking to get some comments from those who have one already. Thanks

yeah i heard optima is damn good, but from the stuff with odyssey is most likly better. I'll prolli end up getting one just for a safe conscious when im far from home...
If you look on odysseys site, they'll show you they have more power then an optima... cranking amps are a **** load more and they've got 15% more area then the sprial cell's do
OPTIMA YELLOWTOP DUAL PURPOSE (STARTING & DEEP CYCLE) BATTERIES
Voltage 12v
Cold Cranking Amps @ 0F 750 650 750 650 450
Cranking Amps @ 32F 870 810 870 810 575
Reserve Capacity 120
Odyssey
Pulse (5-second) Hot Cranking Amps (PHCA) 1400
Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) 740
20Hr Nominal Capacity (Ah) 60
Reserve Capacity Minutes 100
and thats just for the one odyssey battery... I saw some at 2200 crankin amps ... not like that matters that much to me but it does mean its got more juice
im going with odyssey... **** they make batteries for tanks... lmao

optima is kinda like the sony of batteries... not really bad but definetly better stuff out there. We looked at these batteries but ended up leaning more towards kinetic. I believe there is one that would fit in my stock battery location from odyssey.

Haz l33t wheelz.
haha, well i guarantee the battery you saw with 2200 CCA was not the one that'll fit in our car.
besides, its kinda a loyalty thing. in our military generators we use optimas because they're the only batteries that are able to stand up to the abuse they take out in the field and on deployments.

Actually the military mostly uses Optimas, not Odyssey. In fact, I don't believe I have ever seen an Odyssey battery used in any military aplication. Have seen a crap ton of Optimas though.

yeah... i understand..
Superior vibration resistance
ODYSSEY batteries are of military grade and have endured rigorous tests that demonstrate their overall ruggedness and exceptional tolerance of mechanical abuse.
Ready out of the box
that was taken right off one of their websites.
youz gotta test an odyssey and get back to me. lol

Also, there is a big difference then military grade and military approved. You got to be military grade to get into the approvel system, but most things that get into the approvel system don't make the cut.
I can tell you right now, Optima has already made it through the approvel system and been in use for years.
*Edit*
System works like this. Military decides they need something. They list their required specs (military grade). All manufacters that want in build a product that meets those specs and submits it. Then the item goes into testing. They test it at worse then "Worst Case" conditions. All failures go back and the manufacter can tweak and resubmit it. When (if) the item finally passes those test, it is then sent to user testing. Meaning a small group of what will be the end users get the item to test the hell out of it. Their even tougher on the item then the original testing, since they do some pretty stupid stuff to it. When (if) an item finallyl passes all the end user test, which often take years, it is approved for use.

Not a Sebring
How do I = fail? Im just saying, I found it funny that people were actually getting into deep debates over which battery was better. Both Odyessey and Optima are deep cycles.....so both are good IMO. I'd just get whichever was cheaper and/or more conveinent/easy to obtain.

I was actually the first person to post a response in this thread, so I didn't just "come in and say fail". It was more or less a joke. And at 2:26 in the morning, I have the right to be a jerk.

Ok.....you cant really compare the Odyssey batteries to the yellowtop optima.......I have owned a yellowtop and my buddy with a Dodge diesel has dual odyssey's and they both are great batteries but EACH HAVE THEIR OWN PURPOSE......The odyssey batteries are more for cranking purposes where as the yellowtop optima is designed for deep cycle applications (draining and recharging multiple times) as well as having a large reserve capacity.......both are very good if you have a purpose in mind.......Just my 2 cents......Later
