Good lord, learn how to read. It bases it on any number of things, from RPM, hours, ambient temp, etc etc. Go back and read the first page, including the link attached.

Yea, it was real weird. It kept coming on for...I dunno, a week or so? Then it just stopped. Still read 0% when I cycled through obviously, but stopped popping up every time I started the car.

I think if you drive it long enough after the "change engine oil" message is displayed you get a new message:

"CHANGE ENGINE"

It's also a GREAT idea to check your oil level every other full tank of gas, or about every 1000 miles. Cars will burn some oil and GM considers up to 1 quart every 2000 miles acceptable. So if your car happens to be one that burns a quart per 2000 miles and you don't check it at all between oil changes, after 8000 miles you could be down 4 quarts, not good. So check you oil level regularly. And while you're at it, check your tire pressures.

I'll fix everyones' thoughts on the subject

When you turn the car on leave it on run but don't start the engine.

With the key in the forward run position pump the gas pedal three times.

problem solved.
