To oil spray for winter - or not?

Thinking about getting it done - telling them not to spray up into the engine compartment.

y'know, they have been saying for years that you dont need to do anything because the car wont rust. well, going through these harsh winters we have, they all rust after a while. maybe some more than others, but take what your dealer says with a grain of salt. better safe than sorry. im not letting this one rust.

New cars shouldn't have rust protection put on them, not even the one recommended by the dealer, read your manual for that one. When the car is getting older then it is advisable to put some sort of rust protectant on the vehicle. Wet sprays (like KROWN in Canada) are best applied in the spring time as it is the constant freezing and warming that creates the moisture that will rust a vehicle. Just my $0.02.
