I think as long as it meets GM specs, the oil is ok. If someone is concerned about damage to the motor from running it hard, you can just change the oil at closer intervals. Changing at closer intervals in my mind is pretty good insurance (a few extra bucks a year). Personally, I will probably just use M1 because it was what was spec'd for the car. There may be better oils out there, but the little bit better that they may be is probably not worth the money.

oh boy...be gentle 'balters...i own several corvettes(and my ss 'balt) and i always use mobile one. now wait!! don't attack quite yet...i am not saying mobile one is the best. i have put on hundreds of thousands of miles on my vettes(some leisure, track and long high speed) without using a drop - honestly. what proves it to me...years and miles of reliability! could the the oil all be coming from the same place...sure. same manufacturer...sure. at test time could they be using a better formula for better results...sure. i have read independent tests for eons on ALL brands and i am still a skeptic!!! why? we live in a world where the bottom dollar means the most!! but there is a point that the oil has to work, for a time and for specific demands, or too mant people will have trouble. i, myself, buy my oil at discount pricing! i NEVER pay the full price for any of the name brands. search and you will find the price breaks. i change oil too many times to buy at full price. i change it often( at around 2200/2500 miles) and find that all my cars (i own 5) hold up well in the wear dept. so gents (and ladies), we are here to HELP one another...thats why i go to this site. many of you have great knowledge to share, so save your energy on passing wisdom not one - liners!

enjoy your 80%+ american made cobalt!!

Sport,

Mobil 1 changed the formula 2 years ago and totally cheapened it yet sold it for the same price. When i say go read over at bob the oil guy.. It's because they have lab tests of all different kinds of oil that show what is good and what is ****. M1's test results have been **** is why i always trash the garbage that it is. I'm not bashing it because it's my opinion.. I'm bashing it because it's been PROVEN to be ****.

Also.. Vette owner here as well. First a 99, Then an 06, 08 and now a 94

No. Not even close. I'm not saying that you should get RP. I just want you guys to understand there are a lot BETTER oils then M1. Redline, Amsoil, German Castrol, Royal Purple are all 100X's better then Mobil 1 and it's been proven.

Here's what i suggest Proj. Out of the 4 better oil's i suggested. Try one for the next 5000 miles and see how your engine likes it. When i switched from M1 to RP.. The car ran cooler and the valvetrain was quieter. That's not a fluke. You can get RP and a new oil filter for about 45 dollars. Change it and see how it goes. If it's THAT bad switch back to M1.

Ask ANYONE on this board who runs Royal Purple. They are MORE then happy with it.

did you change your filter also? lol that will do that by itself just changing the filter. haha. this will be my last time posting in here because i am arguing with idiots.

IT'S BEEN PROVEN? BY WHO? FROM WHO? don't say bob the oil guy because he gets paid and has sponsors too. go do some research no one has yet other than the smart people. THE OIL COMES FROM ALL THE SAME PLACE. ALL THE SAME TYPE Of oil some just marketed better or the companies pay more for advertisements or make up different tests.
you talk about proving things alot..so where is your proof that all the oil is the same? and i dont want a link from Joe who the **** knows who watches governement concpiercys (SP) on youtube all day..i want some cold hard facts that state all the oil is EXACTLY THE SAME!! IN EVERY WAY LIKE YOU HAVE CLAIMED!
