I dont believe this, because many forum members are getting build dates, which negates the idea they are 'all for show'. But, we shall see.

My cobalt is released for production. I have paperwork to that effect. The district sales manager for my dealer has said orders for the car are movi

Sounds like your saleguy is giving you a line of BS. I would tell him you have talked to others who have had their orders accepted by production.

My order for my LS was accepted back in mid-December, then there was massive delays. And know apparently it was being built this week but I have heard nothing about it. I plan on calling tomorrow but it is rather dissappointing when they raise my hopes and then nothing...

There are two types of "Accepted"

Accepted by GM
and
Accepted by production control

Which one are you talking about?

Your guess is as good as mine, probably better, on which type. I just remember my dealer calling me early on a Saturday that I would have my car by 2005. Then a week later he told me it wouldn't be till February. Then after some more pestering he informed me my car was going to be built this week but didn't give me an acutal build date nor does he know anything regarding it.

Unfortunatley my order was accepted on 2/16, one day prior to the date to order the performance package. I was told today I either needed to cancel and place a new order to get the PP (and give up the free XM and sunroof) or append the order today (creating a further delay) so the dealer can try to add the G85 option next Tuesday. This sucks. I am very frustrated with this crappy process.

hey. im sorry about that post, but i only write what i've been told. i think my dealer is full of BS myself, and that they will be here by March or so. i called a bunch of other dealers, and they are all saying march. i know that some people have allready got their build dates and such, so i think that what he told me is a bunch of BS. he really has no idea what is going on.

i hope i didn't screw up my order... i changed the colors, interior to ebony, and wanted the G85 added... i did that on tuesday and the dealer didn't have the update for the G85 yet, figured it would be in today... i hope my order wasn't pulled yesterday, and now i'm stuck with the plain black interior...

I think you should be ok. I had my dealer change my order to blue interior becuase the dealership originally ordered black interior. They changed it no problem, accepted my order into production, and gave me a build date.

Hey jeffbmx, yeah, it sounds like your dealer is just makig stuff up off the top of his head, or couldn't secure your car and doesn't want to admit it too you. The regualr run of cars (non pre-ordered) should hit dealerships around July/August, so it sounds like he can only get you one then and doesn't want to admit the screw up.

I would say go to a delaer like I did that has pre-ordered some cars themselves, then take over the order.

My delaership ordered my car October 4, 2004, so even though I didn't take it over until 2 weeks ago, It was already high in order.

Because I ordered earlier this month, should I expect to wait for a long while seeing how many ordered in October and are just getting builddates now, or will mine come not far after theres ?

thanks

They use that same time-frame for everything, They told my parents that with there SSR and it took about 4 months.

i checked today and he never actually changed the order... and it was pulled on wednesday as blue/blue... he's gonna call and see if the G85 can be added on, or if not, at least change the exterior color to silver with the blue interior

I doubt it, since it will probably have to be an all new order.
