Only problem I've had with my paint are these two circles that appear under back-light conditions on the passenger side door, and the paint scratches so easily!

well the problems that i am having are the same as most everybody else. i have the small scratches, i have a couple of chips...and i have no idea where they came from i have only had my car for around 3 weeks, and then there are the spots that dont look like there is any paint at all. i have a black ss and i knew it was going to be a pain to keep clean. but i didnt think that i would have a problem like this with the color. i wash it quit a bit everyday that i dont have to work, or if it is not raining. the factory wax is definatly all gone now so it is showing a lot more scratches now...tried to wax some out and nothing. going to be talking to the dealership today and setting up an appt to check out the paint.

Paint Issues

I am curious if you ever took your car in to have the paint checked? I have a black one to that I got yesterday from a dealer in another state, it was dirty when I picked it up, when I washed it I was pissed. I have areas under the front air damn that are rough and look like they forgot to sand and no clear coat. This is the worst paint I have ever seen on a new car and I have owned Porsche, volkswagen, Lexus, and I actually have a Cobalt LT black and the paint has no Issues. This is really bullcrap.

Sounds to me like it has something to do with the dealership. What kind of dealership gives somebody a dirty car to come pick up?? When you buy a brand new car, you expect that they will prep it properly, clean it up, and detail it. Thats flag number one.

Then the whole bad paint thing - sounds to me like the car was repainted after it left the factory. They are usually pretty good at the plant, the cars are painted using precise equipment and inspected before they even leave the assembly line. Chances are something happened during transit or at the dealership, and then repainted it in their shop. They probabyl did a rush job, and consequently it came out crappy.

I say take it back to the dealer ASAP and question them about the paint. If something did in fact happen and it was repainted, I'd be pretty upset with the dealer for not at least telling you
