paint warrenty
So today i brought my 2010 cobalt ss in for warrenty for the famous door paint and was told im not covered for it because the car was more than a year old. My question is does the paint warrenty only last one year?

What is the famous "door paint" you're referring to? If it looks like the door has been repainted or repaired the dealer will not cover it (just because you have a clean carfax doesn't mean something hasn't been repaired or repainted on the car).

My paint is peeling at the bottom of drivers door. When I brought it in last year they told me they wouldn't cover peeling paint but if it rusted through it would be covered. Mind you they also refused to cover my dp because they said they recall was only fir the cat not the flex section. I argued with
Them because they dpnt sell a separate flex but told ne if I used an aftermarket one it would take away the warantee on the dp because I had modified it. They suggested I have them replace the dp so I could keep the warantee. I told them to stick it and put an aftermarket flex on because I didn't have time to order an aftermarket dp for it cause it's my DD.
Gm should learn that it's crap like this that makes people move to other manufacturers. There is no way a car that was only 4 years old should have paint peeling and the flex not being covered is bs.

Good morning rogersj,
Paint! There are a few different elements to paint coverage.
There is a condition (referred to as "Chemical Paint Spotting" in the 2010 Chevrolet Warranty Manual, p. 14) in which atmospheric and weather conditions can create chemical fallout resulting in blotchy, ring-shaped discolorations, and/or small irregular dark spots etched into the paint surface. The coverage offered by Chevrolet on this is 12 months or 12,000 miles from the initial purchase (this may be where your dealership is pulling that length of time you referenced in your post).
Otherwise, paint coverage would fall to the Corrosion Warranty, which covers body sheet panels against rust for the first 3 years/36,000 miles. After the first 3 years/36,000 miles, this coverage transitions to covering the panels against rust-through (where an actual hole is created in the metal) for the first 6 years/100,000 miles.
I just realized while typing that you are writing from Canada and so my units of measure may be off. If you have any further questions, let me know!
