projectors have been a headache

ive had my projectors since july and they have had melted lenses, still cant get them to be pointed right after hours of adjustment, and ive gone thru 3 headlight bulbs so far, i still have a headlight out right now. the money would have been better spent elsewhere...

I was wondering how many people would have problems with them. Sad that those are the only ones available for the Cobalt... especially for the price they are charging for them. The only ones I've ever seen in person looked sweet... but they fogged up on the inside as soon as it started to cool down outside.

Did you by any chance start to see the melting after you tried to aim them? I know one of mine melted when I was attempting to aim the bulb, i think I rotated the actual projector too far outwards and the bulb becomes to close to the lense. Got mine replaced under warranty tho

yeah i dont know but that plastic on there shouldnt melt at all, it should be higher grade for the price. i was thinking of doing a swap on my lenses from the stock headlights to see if they hold up better. but for now i need to buy a new headlight that wont keep burning out

You know i didn't think about that. They weren't melting at all and now that i did aim them finally i noticed a small pin whole from where they're starting to melt.

Plastics is my industry ...... they must have used cheap acrylic for the projector lens . A high quality polycarbonate should not even come close to melting with a normal headlight bulb .

How about swapping in a real set of HID projectors in the housings you have . Seal em up good when your done , then problem solved forever .

OR

If you dont want to go thru the hassle of HID , get a set of cheap used 03 or newer Saturn L-series headlights , remove the OEM halogen projector from the housing and swap it into the lights u have . The OEM projector wouldnt ever give problems , the lens is glass .

Just ideas .

well i replaced the burnt out headlight with a cheap sylvania one for like $4 and it looks exactly the same as the other silverstar, those silverstars are such a rip off, the want like $17 for one headlight and the cheap one looks the same by the same company.
