Removing paint from SS wheels?

The PO of my '06 SS painted the wheels grey and I want to remove the paint. It started flaking in some spots and looked like crap in general. Now underneath that paint is a nice factory finish. I know because I took a dab of paint stripper from a friend and put it on one of my wheels and the paint eventually came loose and I could see the bare finish. There is three coats I believe, clear, then gray, and a black base coat. The clear and silver come off easy however the black is a little difficult to remove although not impossible. The tires are mounted on the rims and there is no way I can have them removed, as it is my daily driver. I have read oven cleaner will work to remove the paint but I have read all sorts of things on the internet on how to do it but I would like someone from the forum to chime in. Suggestions, tips, advice, etc. are appreciated. Once I get the paint gone I plan on polishing the wheels and see how it looks.

paint stripper, and a lot of time, anything else (sanding etc, wire brush etc) may damage the chrome...

I've used Medium Reducer from a body shop and it worked pretty well. It will soften the paint up so it's easier to come off.
