Hey do you have any drone while cruising? That should all be emissions legal from what I understand as well. How much HP gain do you think you have with that?

A LOT of the exhaust people have around here sounds ricey to me, so I dunno. The only one I like, frankly, is the gmpp touring, or the equiv.

Personnally I don't think the Megan sounds ricey at all. There are several people who have heard mine and can tell you it is very deep/bassy

The Tsudo and Megan are about the same and I have a Tsudo with a ss/sc header and it sounds like a beast.

I got vids in the tsudo cat back thread.

I don't necessarily agree with the "loud" quality of american style. Mustangs (GTs/Cobras), Corvettes, Trans Ams and the sort have the right to sound loud. No one can say their **** doesn't sound good. They SOUND like muscle. I've seen a guy around campus with an Altima that has exhaust loud as ****. The tone and sound isn't that bad but he sets off alarms just cruising 20mph on the street. That doesn't sound badass or good, it sounds rediculously loud and annoying. Sorry guys, but we don't sound like muscle so I don't think we should be included in the "loud is good" american characteristic. Besides, our cars are more intended to compete against other import tuner econo-cars (built for gas-mileage and affordability mostly, not so much comfort/luxury/power), which typically have smaller engines with less than 8 cylinders and therefore higher pitched and shittier sounding exhausts when getting rid of flow-restrictions (in comparison to other types of cars).

I think "ricey" sounding exhausts are typically higher pitched and raspier in tone. I think its also ricey to make your car louder than what most would consider reasonable for the sake of being heard. People saying "I want to go cat-less" because of the sound I think is pretty ricey. Its reasonable IMO to want to go cat-less for gains, but not for noise, especially shitty raspy sounding noise. We as small 4-cylinder engines already aren't so great sounding IMO but don't make it worse, then you're just another one of "those guys".

Doing something for function is understandable. Doing something to make noise and the sake of being heard is not.

Woooooooooooow. lock this thread. this is the dumbest **** ever.

i have a megan cat back. it sounds fine. x pipes on mustangs sound raspy. does that make them ricey? no. who the **** cares.

like i said before, you're not going to get your 4 cylinder cobalt to sound like a v8 mustang vette camaro chevelle pinto vega whatever. its not going to happen

I have a Magna-Flow Catback. This is my car getting Dyno'd. You can hear the exhaust and see if you think its ricey. I also have a Catless DP from ZZP.

i just had an idea. if you want an "american" sounding exhaust, put a 40 series flowmaster on it and stfu.

that would just be an american muffler, i have heard it and it is far from american sounding...

its a 4-banger not a v8... from my experience, most people dont think their exhaust sounds ricey, and most people dont have the ***** in person to tell someone their exhaust sounds like **** so they come away from the meet or whatever thinking, "mine doesnt sound like rice, everyone said so"

I think for our cars our exhaust will be linked to Ricers regardless. The line between "Ricey" and "Not Ricey" is a pretty fine line in my opinion. I have days when I still think my car sounds a little ricey but it is what it is and I like the way it sounds. As people have said above, there isnt much hope for us to sound American with a 4-cylinder car.

well what about zzp mid-length headers and dp combo welded to stock 2.2 piping to cannon muffler with approx. 3 to 4 inch outlet?

that's what i got on mine...sounds real deep but gets raspy at end of 1st gear around 5000 rpm's

Yea theres a lil drone while cruising.. but cruising where i live is 70.. 60 mph isn't bad.. nothing a lil music can't fix. It's definately loud as ****. HP gains.. i have no clue dude.. But i do know that it was WAAAYYY noticeable on the gains.. I love my vibrant exhaust.. Keep in mind I did my full exhaust at once.. Full vibrant from the header to the 3 inch catback.
