As I suspected, you had no idea what this thread was about. As I stated in the first thread the purpose of this thread was to define and clarify the characteristics of a rice exhaust when contrasted by the American style.

And from this comment, I gather that you have difficulty grasping anything past a literal understanding.

Abraham Lincoln once said, "It is better to be thought a fool, than to speak, and be known a fool." I believe he was directing this comment for the situation you have gotten yourself in.

Maybe next time, you will be more polite when you share your opinion.

Well if you have subs on your computer here is something you could listen to, the one from the inside is with the Tsudo but after I installed the DP, the walkaround one is from when I had the stock dp and Tsudo CB. I am working on getting my other outside rev vid up from earlier but I have dialup so it will take forever, when I get it up compare it to the walkaround and it is much deeper with the SS/SC header.

If you live in Florida, aftermarket exhausts are illegal, if it is louder than the stock exhaust system.

The fine is $70 for noisy exhausts, and Florida cops are ********. I got the GM Performance exhaust on my car and I think it's great, and if you look at it, it still looks stock and is emissions legal in all 50 states.

This is something to think about if buying an exhaust in Florida, don't need anyone contributing for for the state cop donut fund due to retarded laws. I got this info off the tamparacing.com forums, it's a sticky under General Car Chat.

See: Flordia Statue 316.293 Motor vehicle noise.--

The 2007 Florida Statutes

Title XXIII
MOTOR VEHICLES

Chapter 316
STATE UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL

View Entire Chapter

316.293 Motor vehicle noise.--

(2) OPERATING NOISE LIMITS.--No person shall operate or be permitted to operate a vehicle at any time or under any condition of roadway grade, load, acceleration, or deceleration in such a manner as to generate a sound level in excess of the following limit for the category of motor vehicle and applicable speed limit at a distance of 50 feet from the center of the lane of travel under measurement procedures established under subsection (3).

(c) For motor-driven cycles and any other motor vehicle not included in paragraph (a) or paragraph (b):
Speed limit Sound level limit
35 mph or less 72 dB A
over 35 mph 79 dB A

(3) MEASUREMENT PROCEDURES.--The measurement procedures for determining compliance with this section shall be established by regulation of the Department of Environmental Protection as provided in s. 403.415(9), in cooperation with the department. Such regulations shall include the selection of measurement sites and measurement procedures and shall take into consideration accepted scientific and professional methods for the measurement of vehicular sound levels. The measurement procedures may include adjustment factors to be applied to the noise limit for measurement distances of other than 50 feet from the center of the lane of travel.

(4) APPLICABILITY.--This section applies to the total noise from a vehicle and shall not be construed as limiting or precluding the enforcement of any other provisions of this chapter relating to motor vehicle mufflers for noise control.

(5) NOISE ABATEMENT EQUIPMENT MODIFICATIONS.--

(a) No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle or any other noise-abatement device of a motor vehicle operated or to be operated upon the highways of this state in such a manner that the noise emitted by the motor vehicle is above that emitted by the vehicle as originally manufactured.

Who cares? Just get an exhaust that you think sounds/looks good. I have a CA header + XTC 2.5" de-cat downpipe + ARK N2 cat-back, and some love the way it sounds/looks, and some think it sounds/looks "ricey". Owell, my money, not theirs. Self-satisfaction FTW!!

ok lets clarify.

16 year old kids use the term "rice". how difficult is it to understand the difference between "american sounding" exhaust and "rice" exhaust.

american exhaust-
behind an engine with 8 cylinders.

rice exhaust-
behind an engine with 4 cylinders.

if you havnt gotten my point yet, i'll simplify if for you. your car will not sound like a 5.0, or an LSx engine ever. theres nothing you can do to emulate that sound. so with that being said...

Who drives your car? you do. Why should you care what other people think about it? you shouldnt, because its yours, not theirs. If you like the megan catback, get it. If your buddy thinks its "ricey" thats too ******* bad for him, its not his car, so his opinion is invalid.

its your car. dont put parts on it to cater to other people. they're not the ones driving it.

True all personal preference. For me i prefer to have a quieter exhaust and don't like to attract attention given that i always have my foot on the pedal. Depends on what you want really. I've going by cops pretty quick and i haven't been followed. I think every because it doesn't sound fast or it's black... i'm betting on the exhaust being quiet.

I just ordered my Corsa Touring. I'll let you all know what my opinion is of the sound once I get it on and hear it live.

You would care if you got pulled over, and then given a $70 fix it ticket. You will get a ticket each time you are pulled over till you get it fixed.

I'm not bashing aftermarket exhausts, I am just trying to warn the thread creator, who lives in FL. If you like your loud exhaust, then more power to you. In any case, all you need is one pissed off cop with nothing better to do, to ruin your day.

Ya if I had GMPP I would've gone with the touring, I'm hoping that the corsa touring works out for me.

I agree, I am not basing my opinion on that of others. I bought the Megan Exhaust already. I think I just reacted badly to your first comment, let's call this little argument even, what do you say?

Dude, I had no idea, I already bought the exhaust, that shouldn't be much louder than the GMPP. I am in the process of ordering ZZP header and dp kit, that may be too loud.

I don't know, though, I hear tons of loud cars in my area, and as long as I don't rev too high I think I should be ok. I do mostly expressway driving. If I get pulled over I will try getting out of it by saying I have a leak or something.

I would normally say I don't think so, but knowing the cops in Florida (a huge part of the state revenue comes from tickets) I would have to say that they would try to give you a ticket for anything possible. One of my friends got a ticket for "Improper use of fog lights." The lights were all stock...

He doesn't live in Florida, so I am not sure he even knew what he had to do. I told him, "Just show up in front of a Judge, and it will probably get dismissed before you even say who you are." I should ask him about it, .

I think if you get pulled over, your best bet is to say it's a GM exhaust if it's not blatantly obvious it's aftermarket. You also gotta keep in mind that there is a 79db limit, so even if your exhaust was stock, but was louder you would get ticketed. FL laws just seem retarded, and I'm glad I don't live down there anymore.

In any case, the law is the law, if you see a cop and your exhaust dosen't scream ricer (i.e. 3" fart can) then you might be ok by keeping the rpm's down.
