That I don't know but it has the same base motor type as the WRXSTI so I would imagine getting it to STI performance wouldn't be too hard.

I am a big fan of sleeper cars.

70's muscle car, looking at maybe a corvette, nothing expensive with matching numbers or anything, just a 427 or a 454 and a 4 speed he he he.

Supra or something similar with big WHP, 600+

SRT-4 Neon, preferebly with stage 2 + toys

'04-'05 STi, I really don't want to spend 35k, so no new '06.

Evo, maybe, someone at school already has one, so I don't want to be a copycat.

Sky redline, but the lack of a roof scares me.

and finally, we have: maybe another cobalt.. but that's too painful, for now.

First two are definitely no's, those cars are rare enough w/o someone totalling yet another one.

EVO/STi - both no's. If you can't responsibly handle 200hp, why do you need 300?

Cobalt - also no, my insurance rate is high enough, thanks.

Sky RL or SRT-4 - hey, go for it but beware the shitty crash ratings of the Neon and the lack of roof on the Sky...

Some of these posts are ridiculous. Just be glad he's alright.

I'm sure you learned a valuable lesson, good luck with your next vehicle.

Envious??? Dude, we all still have our cars, what the hell are we envying? The fact you can go buy a Supra and build it up? Good luck with that, let me know how it works out. I used to own a Supra, had to rebuild it basically from the ground up, and can go out today and buy another one, so take it from me when I tell you that if you don't kill yourself in the car, the maintenance costs will kill you financially. The only reason I don't have a Supra is I have neither the time, the patience, or the financial banking to make the car what I would like it to be. It doesn't matter how big of an inheritance you have(Which I assume you got from the very unfortunate loss of your father, and why you could shrug off a 20-25k car so easily). Personally, I think you should invest in a decent used vehicle and work it out from there. I don't care what the courts say, you should have had enough presence of mind to realize the one cardinal rule that applies to ALL drivers on the road: Always expect that your conditions will be different day to day, and acted accordingly.

In the end, do what you gotta do, best of luck, but do not presume yourself in a posistion to come off half cocked and arrogant to those of us who have plenty more driving experience than you, from day to day city roads to actual racing circuits, we've been there, and done that, sometimes more than once.

Bitch bitch bitch bitch..

I kindof want something that has ridiculous WHP, and runs like 10.5 in the quarter, those supras are looking tastier by the moment.

Personally I find it hard to believe a high school kid wrecks his "prized" SS/SC doing 50 on a gravel road on R-compound track-only tires. Shows up 4 months later because the courts supposedly rule it was not his fault. Driving around in an AMG Mercedes and looking for another car that's WAY outside the price range for a high school kid...personally I smell troll...

Tube I would really reccomend that you think on your next purchase. Maybe hold out just a bit for the new caliber SRT4 coming out from Dodge. Or really wait and get the new Challenger when it comes out. (If you do that though I may personally have to strangle you. That is by far the most beautiful car I have ever seen. And if you destroy it I would hurt you... bad. )

Just suggestions from my car fan side.

From the other side...

I say get yourself something fun to scoot around in like the Subaru I mentioned. Then take the rest buy a used heavily modifieable car and go with that.

Personally I smell burning through his daddy's life insurance policy payoff. He is the reason trust funds were made.

Hope you have a lot to invest in one. I'm guessing you're looking into the Mark IV Supras, probably with a twin turbo setup. Heavy as hell cars, expect to invest about 35K into one, 40 to make it to 10.5 (25-30 for the car itself, more if it's in a clean condition, plus another 10-15K in mods to haul the weight down the track). I'd suggest a Mark III supra. They're a lot lighter, and can be made into what you want for a bit less, not to mention no one ever expects those model supras to hit 12's, let alone 10's...a true sleeper indeed. I got plenty of info I can give you for those cars, but I still think you should just get a decent used car and work your way bak into a race car.

Exactly.

His responses to some of these posts are pretty far fetched...like he's just trying to stir the pot so to speak........10 sec. Supras....

I dunno, let's say he is genuine in all this...The really funny part comes when he's driving an extremely modded race car, but can't even afford to get his own place when the time comes for him to move on with his life after high school. I doubt the money paid for the house, but even if it did, he'd still have to pay proerty taxes on it, which in this day and age will kill just about anyone, especially a kid.

^ Good suggestions, but I'm not so sure hes concerned with how much it costs to build (and probably wreck) the car.

ok i just read all 5 pages of this thread and all i can say is WOW great job...

here why i am at that would be Called failure to maintain control...in which case you would be at fault...consider your self lucky on that...

2nd place you are lucky is that you are still alive thank god i would saybecause that is horrible to see of anyone...(no matter how stupid)

3rd of all i do think you are stirrin the pot a little...I think a nice preowned car that can be built with experience would be good the better driver you can be the better you and your can perform...just go find your self a nice Eclipse GSX or a Galant VR4...both impressive cars

Kind of a let down unfortunately.

My car got dusty last time I drove it on gravel. WAY slower than 50mph.

Speed can kill, and so can gravel roads, remember pray to god that your alive and love him, its up to him to give you another chance if he wanted to he could strike you with lighning now and die, but he wouldnt, cause he has a great plan for you. maybe youd lead us to war against the machines The last thing you want is to have your picture on the tree you hit and died by. It wont be very pleasent.
