spark plugs

Can anyone tell me exactly what I'm supposed to gap my plugs at? .040 is factory but I've seen people say it's too much gap and .035 is what they run. Opinions?

The owners manual is not correct.... 0.040" is much to large for a FI car.

Mine came gapped from the factory at 0.035".

No one can tell u what to set your gap at.... what you need to do is set it to the largest gap possible with out getting spark blowout.

Spark blowout feels like you hit the rev limiter but it usually occurs well before the limiter.

Set the gap, take her for a spin and notice where or if you get any spark blowout. Reduce the gap until it is totally gone.

There are ranges you can try, but every car will be different. Temp and climate play a big part as well.

0.035" is good for stock down to gms2.

Pulleying down or additional breathing mods, try 0.032".

Mine are set at 0.031" but my car moves a decent amount of air.

I just have the gms2 kit and an aftermarket filter on factory intake piping.
I guess I'll re gap my plugs after work and see hiw she does. It says I have a misfire on cylinder 1 so the gap maybe too large

0.035" is a good place to start. What plugs do u have? Stick with NGK. The LSJ is picky when it comes to plugs. Also, stick with the stock heat range if you are only gms2.

So you think that could be it? My engine light didn't stay on until after I changed my plugs. And it didn't come on until the plugs were fouled

When I replaced the plugs they were black. Like they were never changed by the previous owner

If I knew how to post a pic on this thread I'd show you guys

Coil on cylinder 1 might be bad swap cylinder 1 coil with another cylinder and see if the misfire follows the coil if not plug could be bad or another more serious issue could be at fault.

Your stock plugs look like you are running on the rich side.

Try what term said.... swap coil paks and see if that helps.
