So here is what I came up with to avoid having to cut the headliner in the car. The only tricky part was the wiring so I will just post that now. The blue wire is your positive and the grey wire is the negative switch side of the interior dome/map light. You will have power on blue all the time and Grey will only ground when the door is open or the dome/map light is on ex. Unlock or Key out of ignition at shutoff. I bought the LED strip at Autozone for only $25

I like that idea I think I will put a black vinyl strip across the dot matrix on the back window so that the light wont shine out the back. Great job looks really good

When I get back from Afghanistan this is Numbo UNO how to mod that I am going to do, since I hate having no rear light, Great job on it. looks like it will do alot better than cutting the OEM kind in as well.

He is tapping into the wires on the roof that go to the map lights if you have a sunroof. They run down the drivers side about 10inches from the sunroof. As he said there is a constant positive with a switched ground.
When I put my dome light in I also run a wire from it down my pasenger side A pillar for my footwell lighting. Now my dome and footlighting fades along with my map lighting.

I will post pics in a few days when I get a chance to wire in a switch so I can have a switched interior light as well. Just trying to find a good switch to mount on the dash by the gauge dimmer. I don't want it to look cheap or hacked together. Real easy wiring though honestly Blue is your constant positive and Grey is your switched ground.

I didn't have to use any vinyl. I have 20% tint on my window and the black strip on the window already was thick enough to mask the LED strip. It looks really cool from the back at night now. I will post pictures tomorrow. By far the best mod I have done so far.

If you could post pictures up with a good write up of where to connect this/that, run wires here/there etc, how to mount light blah blah blah THEN we could move it over as a how to as it would be easier for users to follow. If you decide to go that route start a new thread for it and PM me
