Switching to FE5 suspension from an SS will give a stiffer suspension and 10cm drop (Shocks/Struts/Springs). Or you could go aftermarket.

You could seek out 5 bolt hubs for LTs or SS cars, though since your car doesn't have rear disc, the 5 bolt hubs for select LT trims should work, as they don't have rear disc either. It's that it completely swap out the rear end with one from an SS, which isn't a bad idea, just a bit of work and more costly.

If I may, why do you want 5 bolt hubs? It's an oddball size on them and few aftermarket rims to choose from. There are A LOT more for the 4 bolt hub you already have. Unless you are specifically wanting factory SS rims, I don't see it as "worth it", but that's me. My car has them and the 18" SS rims, but that's only because it was an LT with the 5 bolt hubs already.

Replacing your current suspension and wheels with more performance oriented equipment will improve the steering response to some degree. If money were no object, you could replace the entire rack and pinion steering, but that's getting a bit ridiculous. At that point, you just as well look for a different ride altogether instead of sinking all that cash into your current car. However, I'm not one to speak, I plan to supercharge my LT and swap out suspension too.

Not sure if your car is a daily driver or more than that, but a complete suspension upgrade could help, just not sure it's justifiable at this point.

BTW, welcome, I'm new here too.

  • FE5 Shocks with YYZ springs
  • TC Cobalt FE5 lower control arm with trailing spherical control arm bushings pressed in. At very least swap out stock voided bushings for solid rubber. The voided bushing deflect severely. Solid or spherical trailing lower control arm bushings are a huge improvement over stock voided. Will help with wheel hop, braking, and steering performance.
  • Rear sway bar stiffener which bolts onto your rear twisting beam. Will help with body roll and understeer.
  • Consider swapping in front FE5 sway bar (either 23 or 24mm) to help with body roll. Get rear sway bar first. Front FE5 sway bar bushing brackets are 2 bolt. FE1 are 1 bolt. To install the proper brackets a hole needs to be drilled for the two bolt brackets. I'm not sure if this can be done without dropping the cradle. Will help with body roll.
  • If you have manual F23 transmission consider a rotated transmission mount which will help with wheel hop
I would not recommend swapping to Cobalt 5 lug bolt pattern. You have significantly more aftermarket wheel choices with the 4X100 bolt pattern you have.
