Thumbs down

Having a C6 for a new teen driver is ludicrous. The immense power and in the car and lack of driving skill on the teen's part is a disaster waiting to happen. The kid is a walking funeral, mark my words. I amazed at the power in my V6 Taurus sometimes, having a C6 would be scary excessive. I'll wait till I'm older to buy my high performance car, right now, I want my Cobalt and I'll be good. But I honestly can't understand the logic parents have when they buy their kids sports cars and the kid isn't mature enough or responsible enough for it. Unless the parents wanted the kid to be a blow job...

What a spoiled little ****.

Hell I think I'm spoiled for my mom paying for my 2.2 but atleast I pay my car insurance myself, drive responsibly, and take good care of it. I personally hope he wraps it around a light pole and is forced to save up and buy his own car. It'd teach him a ******* lesson.

This is somewhat off topic, but just as ridiuculous..

Back when I was in highschool, there was a girl who's parents bought her a little BMW Z3 when she was 15 to learn to drive on. But by the time she turned 16, and got her license, she was tired of the color, so her parents bought her the same car in a different color, and gave her previous car to her current boyfriend! I didn't know her, but if I had, I would've tried as hard as possible to get a date with her.. Maybe if I could've taken her out one night, her parents would have bought me a CAI

Good for his father!

The next car for junior should be a pinto...just to teach him.

ROFLMFAO!!!

You SERIOUSLY need to take a picture of this guy and post it on the internet.

Chevrolet Corvette Z06 - $63,000
Monthly Insurance Payments - $1,250 per month
Getting your awesome car taken away because you're a worthless dipshit- priceless

For everything else, there's Vtec.

people need to stop and think before they buy things like that for there young children. just because you have to ability to do something doesnt mean you should. and anyone who wants there 16 year old driving a vette is a social climbing status seeker. where the hell is that kid going to learn responsibility from if his parents are buying him sports cars and fixing it for him when he makes stupid mistakes.

For everyone saying that people shouldn't buy their kids these cars because they can be killed in a high speed crash.....you can die in a base cobalt just as easily as in a vette'.

Both can go over 100mph one just takes a little longer....lol My point is, whether you're doing 60 or 120mph....you can die just the same.

**I do agree though that "kids" shouldn't have these cars unless earned themselves.....and no, grades don't cut it either

You only go around this life once, the earlier you can get you're ass into a vette the better...
Also, you can take yourself out, or be taken out in any car.

I would have loved to drive a vette in high school, I had to settle for a black rx-7....

Yes, but flooring a base Cobalt isn't nearly as dangerous as flooring a Corvette when you're a new driver, said Cobalt won't go sideways if you put your foot down while in a turn etc...aside from the argument about earning the car themselves are you actually suggesting giving new drivers 400hp RWD cars isn't a recipe for disaster? Not only do they get to dangerous speeds alot faster, but you're alot more likely to be showboating / driving way too fast in a vette versus a base cobalt.

People shouldn't buy these kids cars like this, I'm all for buying your kid a nice car, but you could start somewhere smaller IMO a SC Cobalt is too much to be giving a high school kid but its a lot better starting platform then a 400HP RWD Corvette, and what happens when little Billy floors his new Vette it gets a little squirley on him and he wrecks into someone else's ride, or worse kills someone...I'm sorry but new driver + RWD sports cars do not mix.

No I wouldn't agree at all with most of this

Perfect example......take a stroll over to our "kill" section and read what some of these kids are doing in there "safe" economy cars.......

I had.hav a 400hp RWD "sports" car....still hasn't lead me to disaster yet...in fact the cobalt has lead me closer to disaster than the goat ever has..
Anyway...if you want my honest opinion, NO kid should have ANY car handed to them......

i dont agree with this either....however, i think kids should earn some part of their car as well....if your seriously loaded, you can do what i plan on doing (assuming im wealthy when im older). Give the kid $10,000, and match every dollar he puts in to the new car with 2 more dollars....so he'd pay $1,000 for a $13,000 car, $2,000 for a $16,000 car, and so on, up to about $5,000 for a $25,000 car....then stop matching his money

also...make the kid pay for any accidents he gets in

thats pretty much what i got from my parents, minus the matching part

my dad said i get $10,000, and i have to pay for the rest...i had $2,400, so my dad was nice enough to cover tax and license and get my balt out the door for about $13,000

seriously....its more about spoiling your kids than anything....you need to make sure they appreciate money.

if my dad spoiled me, i'd be driving a vette right now too....the cheapest car in my driveway besides mine is $45,000, going up to $120,000...but my parents (unfortunately) do a great job at not spoiling me. Hell, i even pay for my own lunches and any dinner i have when at work...

Im not gonna give my kid the ability to go THAT fast. have you driven a c6 vette? the damn end flies out from under you AT 60 mph. its a bit different than driving that goat boat you got.

yea you can die just the same...but the urge to go that fast in a fast car on 35-45 mph speed limit straights is just too great.

once more, if youve street driven a c6, which you might have, i dunno, youd know how its impossible to drive that car under 60 mph cause its just too quick. you cant even be in top gear at 45-50, you almost stall.

and to the dude above me; fo sho on that. cant spoil your kids, they will have no respect for money. We all have our tough financial stories cause not many of us are spoiled, but in my case i paid for my car all on my own, and pay for my gas, tuition, and living status all on my own. I have student loans, but thats what you have to do in college sometimes. The car payments are easily manageable too since I put down almost my entire lifes savings on it.

So whats the $120,000 car?!?!?!
'07 SL550 with a shitload of options and dealer aftermarket chrome 20" rims with drag radials
(he said a 7 speed auto, but he doesnt know crap on cars and might have confused the number with something else)

the irony...my dad didnt buy the 550 over the 500 because of the engine...he doesnt care about speed at all....he bought it for the luxury car feel......i tried sooooo hard to get him to buy a Z06....made him sit in one before he bought the SL

He also still hasnt let me drive it

so what does it count as if your parents got you the loan and you pay for everything else. im 18 and have an ss/sc my parents got the loan for me but thats it. i made the 2500$ down payment and pay the 500$ a month to drive it. does that make me spoiled. anyway i agree getting a 17 year old a corvette is just insane, but once again i cant talk bc i have a corvette to given to me by my grandpa bc he knos ill take care of it(still alive and kicking btw). i guess im spoiled but i dont really think i am i am very well off and have more then most kids my age but i still bust my ass to have this car.
