Is a vette 2 much??
Dude, I drove a 1985 Mercedes benz turbo diesel back and forth to highschool. I didnt get a cobalt BASE model until I had all the money from family members from graduation and what I saved from all the previous years. I cant even imagine the payments on a car that is $50,000 let alone $100,000. Its insane that anyone would be driving a car that cost more then 40 grand to highschool.
As far as the guy from LA, I can totally understand how your parents have that much money. Living in california is INSANE, especially with them jacking up the minimum wage and increasing inflation here. LA is the worst! Your parents gotta be making a ton to live out there! On a side note, I would love to see some pictures of such a beautiful car. Mind posting some?
When I hear about crap like this, that saying about "The rich get richer" is totally true. The middle class is not moving anywhere!

That just upsets me when I hear high school kids are driving vettes and stuff. You know they didn't pay for it themselves....and he'll probably just wreck it or ruin it in some way because he didn't work hard for the money to buy it.
That's true mostly, but there are exceptions. The girl I'm sort of seeing right now could have had almost any car she wanted when she turned 16 and she told her parents she just wanted something cheap and practical. I remember giving her so much crap for it. As a matter of fact I still do, we were just joking about it at lunch today.
even if i got filthy rich tomorrow i would never buy my kids a car. i'm gonna do them the same way i was raised. they want a car, i don't car what make model they want. if they want a z06 vette, an old V8 Camaro they will get a job and buy the car themselves. makes you appreciate it that much more. i've loved every car i've ever owned. except my fiero that is. i refuse to drop cash on a car for a kid to destroy because he/she doesn't know the meaning of being responsible.
Let me tell you a story from my high school days.
My first car was a 89 Camaro RS with a v6 rally wheels sport red.
My father and I painted that car and put ghost racing stripes into the paint.
I bought , maintained, and payed insurance on that car with my own money.
A drove it for almost 2 years until one night coming home from work a kid in a 80's ranger rolled thru a stop sign and pulled right out into my lane. Thier was only 15 feet between us so no matter what I would hit him. I was doing 53ish in a 55. I slammed the break and I figure I hit him at 45 - 40. My car and his truck were ruined.
Turns out the guy was a on the sophomore football team at my school.
So I end up having to get a 00 Ford POS Contour. Two day's later he pulls into school in a brand new 05 Mustang GT. I put my heart and soul into that Camaro and thier he was in a brand new mommy and daddy bought mustang. My friends and having to face mommy and daddy's lawyer in court were the only things that stopped me from letting my keys have some personal time with that stang.
Serveral years later and now he's got pins in his leg so he can't go for a college team. He's working at the theater because his parent's dropped him from thier money graces because he's not going to be a football star. He's driveing a civic. So the point is things work out in the end. Even thou I feel bad for the guy sorta, not really.

This reminds me of a kid i went to school with. His mom and dad had money and unfortunately let him run wild. His dad had all kinds of cars and motorcycles and he was allowed to drive any of them save for the Ferrari.I saw him tear up some nice **** and he always drove like a complete asshat.I worked at the local B.P. pumping gas and he came in with daddies Vette wanting me to wire something on the front end because he had gone off the road.I remember telling him if he didn't slow down and quit driving like an ass he was gonna get killed. Two months later he wrecked a then new ZX-11 and is now confined to a wheelchair and his ******* parents have to wipe his ass for the rest of his life. What a waste.I suspect that kid with the Z06 Vette might end up the same way if his parents don't wake up.
Back ten years ago in my high school days (siggghhhhhhh)
My dad opened up the garage, pointed at the 78' Chevy Silverado that had sat there immobile for the past five years and said "If we can make it run you can have it."
I spent at least 100 hours under the hood of that thing getting it working. Tore out the entire electrical system down to and including distributer shaft. new radiator, new plugs, new master cylinder, new alternator, replaced and repacked front bearings, new brake shoes and pads, rebuilt the carbuerator. Then I probably spent another 100 or so hours working on it from time to time fixing little things just to keep it running.
I still have that truck, it still runs, and I've never gotten into an accident in it. I love that truck like Gwen Stefani loves Asian back up dancers.
Despite the fact that it's a four barrel carb 350 v8, I never showboated in it or drove it stupid, I put too much time and effort into it to do anything that would jeopordize breaking it.
There was a girl at my high school who had a brand new 96' red firebird, drove it for six months, totalled it in an accident, and pulled up two weeks later in a brand new 97 red firebird. She was a cool chick, real smart and fun to be around. She was just spoiled and too inexperienced to drive a car like that.

Alright, if my parents gave me a C6 tomorrow, provided I could fit in it, I would sure as hell take it! However, I would treat that thing like gold, and probably get a semi-decent beater as a daily driver. You can't blame the kid for taking the car, any one of us would, but you can blame him and his parents for not teaching him responsibility and giving him such a powerful car as a start. If they really wanted to get him something nice, they should've got him a forced induction four banger, that way they have some power, but not an excessive amount like a Corvette. Oh, and by the way, that C6 is a manual....right?
I agree, it really reflects his parents' morals and values. his parents are not allowing him to figure things out the hard way and earn things like people in the real world do. they are not preparing him for the real world. honestly i feel sorry for him... he wont ever have to experience the feeling of turely earning something.
now, my parents offered to buy my new ss, but i declined and told them the only reason why i got a job was to afford my new car. sure i could quit and just forget about money, but i like the feeling of earning things.

Tell that to the kids in Iraq who think your clean water spoiled you.

Chidren do not need 400 hp sports cars for thier first car. They need 90 hp point "A" to point "B" cars. That kind of power takes time to learn how to handle and a 16 year old does NOT know how to handle it. Why not put a loaded gun in his hands and tell him Russian Roulet is fun!
Stupid parents.
Stupid parents.
I have to many vehicles myself. I have a 1999 silverado which my parents bought me for graduating, I have a 1967 camaro SS my papaw and me went in together and bought it for 6k and now we got about 11k in it. My papaw gave me a 1992 Silverado it is a pretty much a work vehicle kind of raged out but it is stupid because it is a Kustom Kreation truck.
Now im thinking about getting a Cobalt SS 2.4 because my truck swallows gas and my car is kind of unreliable.

ehh...i would give them anything as long as they deserved it. if they drive safely, get good grades, is a respectable young person, then it's all good. if not, that kid is going to get a scooter. if this kid deserves it, give it to him. really though, it doesnt sound like he does deserve it. sounds like he is pretty irresponsible with it. therefore, i wouldn't give it to him.
Thats pretty dumb of the parents. When I was in HS I had a kid at my school wrap a lambo and a ferrari around the same pole twice, which is right in front of our school. Also had a kid that had three different cars. A 2004 M3, 2005 SL 500, and a Yellow Posche Carrera. He got pissed at his parents for buying him a yellow one so they went out and got him a blue one instead.

and yea, ill get some pics up as soon as i remember to take some.....seriously though, those rims are gorgeous
I know of a kid who's dad lets him drive anyone of the 20+ cars that they own when ever he wants. He mostly drives his 600+hp STI but I've seen him in a viper, a Z06, a lotus, an F430, 911, ford GT, and there brand new shelby Gt500, and many more. He just picks one everyday and drives it to school...
But, I've never seen him race any of them and is a pretty nice kid, so I guess it's ok. Lucky bastard!!!
