What block can I use in my supercharged ss

Hi, my 2.0 supercharged blew the bottom end and I would like to know if I can use another cheaper priced block like a 2.4.

I don't think you can do to the fact the 2.4 is weaker than the lsj motor. A stock lsj bottom end can withstand up to 400 to 500 hp before it would blow. The 2.4 can only handle like 250whp safely before it blows. I would source out another lsj engine here https://www.car-part.com/ or maybe facebook marketplace.

You can use a Saab engine. It’s exactly the same minus the sensors. And they are cheap

Go with the b207I Low pressure. I think the high pressure is larger turbo version. Chevygirl will probably know for sure though. Check that site I linked as it shows multiple 2.0 Saab engines in your area of Canada brotha,

To be technical, you can use a 2.4L bare block, but still need an LSJ crank and rods, plus custom pistons (ZZP sells them) and a crank position sensor spacer (ZZP sells) - that'll give you a 2.1L. But you can't just plug in and go with a complete 2.4L short block though. The biggest issue is crank reluctor wheel timing - the LSJ is clocked differently, which is why you also can't use an LNF crank. There are other small issue, as well... like whether or not the block will have provisions for the oil cooler (some do, some don't).

Yeah and like you said its not just a plug and play situation. Seems like the Saab 2.0 engine is the better option if this guy wants to get back on the road fairly quickly. However that 2.1 engine sounds like it would be nasty though lol and make some very nice power with say a stock k04 or ZZP Z54 or Z57 turbo setup.
