what I need to replace after airbag deployment?
what I need to replace after airbag deployment?
Well I'm fixing up a 2007 cobalt ss/sc that was in a front end collision. I purchased an airbag module from a salvage yard, and seatbelts from a different car. What else do I need to replace, and how do i reset the system. Really appreciate any help, thanks
the part numbers from the airbag module have to match or else it will not work. You change the seat belts, airbags, and module with the battery post disconnected and when you connect it back the light should be off if done correctly. airbag module part numbers MUST match.
You need to have the SDM (Airbag module) programmed after replacement or it won't work.
You may not be able to use a junkyard module but I'm not positive on that... My thought is, its a safety part so spend the extra cash and buy a new one.

Alot of Gm cars need the vin learned to the SDM Pretty sure cobalt are the same, if you put used SDM in you may have to program new might just burn vin in by itself upon connecting.

The clock spring is recommended to be replaced due to the fact that it is a ribbon cable. and it can melt or such, and as well, sometimes the heat generated by the airbag itself can melt the connectors from the clock spring.

Well I know what you guys are saying but I had replaced quite a few in various vehicles and when it breaks or melts u loose all steering wheel controls...
To your question about the radio, check the fuse. I'm sure you already did. Then try pulling it out and check the wires forpower. Acc is only like half a volt or so.
Anyways on to my point, I jump started my car one night, didn't read the owners manual. (If I had I would have noticed it says to turn off the radio first, otherwise it'll blow) long story short that radio died.
