why not make it a 2.8
or a v6? or a V8?

Because this is what they made

If it makes you feel any better, ask your friend what size engine is in evos and STIs

displacement is not nearly as relative to power when your talking about F/I cars.

and while were mentioning competitors....

GTI 2.0L turbo
SI 2.0L N/A
MS3 2.3L turbo
RSX 2.0L N/A

also remember that the SRT4 has been out of production a few years.

as far as competitors....the 2.0L engine is alot more common with our competitors than the 2.4

my question would be why make 3 different 4 bangers... why not just pick one and put the blower on one of them... why been bake each one a different size... and a 2.4 would have been better but who knows why they really did it..

Look at the 4G63's from the DSM cars and Evo's hell... some of them have dyno'd over 1000 hp (I have vids of them!)

SR20DETs from Japan, hmmmm some of the strongest motors have been 2.0l DOHC motors!

So why not a 2.0 liter... I don't have an answer for the 3 different motors but there was first just a 2.2 and a 2.0!

I dont think it would have mattered if it had an extra .4 since it is a FI car. They built the motor around the supercharger and i guess it just was easy to go with a 2.0

i understand everything BUT the 2.2...
lol
I think it should have just been base model(the now known as 2.4 SS/na)
and the ss model(Ss/sc 2.0)
the 2.2 makes no sense to me really....
It just..blah..I think they should just add VVT-I to the 2.2..and drop the 2.4...and give the 2.2 the ss/na bumper in 08

I've always wondered that too. Why not put a blower on a 2.4. I'm not gonna argue, our cars are still sweet, but I wonder what kind of power we could have gotten out of a 2.4. And yes i know displacement isn't everything, but I still wonder.

the ecotec was created in the 80's as a 2.2l engine....the 2.2 was de-stroked to 2.0 so it could safely rev higher, effectively making more power....the 2.4 is the real mystery....i think GM just wanted a faster n/a car, so they upped the displacement and gave it VVTt
