FE1 poly cab install

are you tired of sloppy handling and wheel hop?
finally hear is our answer!

this is how to install the prothane poly cab's for cars with fe1 suspension.

you will need to get the poly bushings http://www.neverenoughauto.com/index...oduct_id=16743

step 1
remove control arm by removing 1 rear control arm bolt(21mm head)

2 front bolts(15mm head)

and 1 ball joint bolt(15mm nut,16mm bolt).
control arm removed

step 2
remove the rear bushing by pressing it out or you can remove the rubber and carefully cut the metal sleeve and tap it out. i tried both with good results.

remove the front bushing by clamping the metal bar in a vice and hitting the control arm with a large dead blow hammer or equivalent.

control arm with both bushings removed

take the front bushing and remove the rubber from the steel bar.

step 3
if there is any rust where the old bushings were you need to remove it and paint the bare metal.before you install the bushings. remember lube is your friend!
grease both halves of the front bushing and slide them into the control arm. then grease the steel bar that was in the original front bushing and press it in.

now take the rear bushing grease it up and press it in followed by the steel tube lube it up and slide it into the bushing

important there is a small radius on one side of the rear bushing this has to go towards the top of the control arm.

step 4

now that both bushings it is time to install the arm.
you want to grease the bushings anywhere they will touch metal.

control arm installed
front

rear

step 5
repeat on other side

this is how i installed mine i am not responsibly for any damages or injuries.

never enough auto on ebay has about 20 sets left but from the looks of things when they are gone there gone for good

just search ebay for 7-777 for red ones or 7-777blk for black

There is a reason they are gone. These type of CAB's don't hold up very well to the stress the Cobalt's design puts them through. They're more failure prone than the stocks are.

Spherical bushings in the rear and Delrin/urethane in the front is the only real way to make it work and last. Urethane in that rear bushing just falls apart, can't handle the rotation of the center bushing. Front one it's just a 2-D movement, so it works.

I should see about making a setup for the 2.2 control arms, I did a set for my LSJ and they were awesome.

If there was interest, and someone wanted to supply me with a pair of stock control arms so I can make measurements, it's very doable. I've done it before.
