Other/Misc: HOW TO: Antenna Mod
#76
apparently i have one of the difficult ones. when im twisting the antenna base to remove it, the end in the trunk is slightly turning too. So I tried to hold that in place while i turned the base on top with pliers and no luck. damn. It's also 33 degrees here today, but i wouldnt think warmer weather would help something like that a whole lot. any tips? im going to try one more time at home with some big guns out in the garage. I ordered an ARK stubby but i picked up the vacuum caps (assorted pack) from autozone. the girl looked at me like an alien when i asked for them. go figure.

and to think this whole time ive just been turning it the wrong way. silly me.
several bad words and a few beers later, got the antenna out with the vacuum cap on, still trying to upload pics from my android. went with the 1/4 vacuum cap. now that its all said and done, im kind of anxious to get my ARK in the mail, it looks a little silly with the xm radio on the roof. plus, i barely get loveline with dr. drew now. when i went to go test out the antenna mod a chick called in saying she just learned how to squirt and i could barely catch the call. Vice Grip WIN. Antenna mod FAIL.

it didnt work for me, so i just shoved the ENTIRE antenna into the trunk, and i am now thinking of a solution to plug up the hole... so far its been household scotch tape. but i still get an ok signal... but ihave an ipod and the aux jack anyway. perhaps ill try the pliers again, i even wd-40'd the hell out of it, and it still wont budge.

that sucks dude. i was having problems with my 08 too. ended up putting my antenna through the trunk too. from there i took a vice grip on the bottom and pliers on the antenna. after deciding to do that, it came of in like 30 seconds and then i just poked the antenna mount back up through the trunk and capped it off. boooyaah

that was my next idea, since its already away from the outside surface of the car, to prevent anymore scratches, so i can just have at it with some tools and hopefully get it off. the hole is still scotch taped up, and its snowing outside...
