well see i was looking into getting a Pclears custom short throw shifter because they cut throws in half and that would be awsome!! but they dont have the Reverse lock out and i kinda of like that! and if this one is close to that then i would rather go with this one!

This was really helpful, the only thing that confuses me is that I can not get the knob to go on straight. It is actually completely the opposite of where it should be, but the shifter is installed in the correct direction, etc.. I was thinking of just sticking a couple washers underneath, would this help, or is there a more simple solution... And, I have tried sticking it on and taking it off at least 20 times. Lol. Thanks for the help.

Thumbs up

now didnt ours cars come with a short-throw?? ok well i know mine did(short-throw & 4.05 axle), the question i have, does this short-throw shifter STILL improve that throw?

i read on some site that it reduses throw by 28%

There is an opposing nut that will rotate and lock the knob in place. You'll need a big crescent wrench to fit over the flat parts. Position the knob where you want it to face, and then tighten up the opposing nut and you're all good.

do you need the external snap ring pliers? he listed it as a tool you will need to use but throughout the how to there is no time he says to use them... it would save me some money if you dont need them bc i dont own one

alright im installing this right now and i got the stock one out real quick then i set up the new hurst shifter real easily but now when im putting everything back in im having some problems... the cable attachment (the grey peice) goes on but it seems to be too tight or putting to much downward pressure on the cable/linkage and when i try to go through the gears its not even possible (im not forcing it either i dont watn to break anything lol) and i had it in 4th gear when i took it apart but if it slipped out how do i put it back in? i followed the hurst instructions and this how-to every step of the way but for some reason i cant get it to work... can anyone help? is there anything i missed?

there should be no downward pressure on the linkage. is the clip unclipped and did you mark the cable prior to removing the stock shifter?

well it shouldnt have come out of 4th unless you pulled it out. the only way to get it to the right spot is trial and error.

on my car the end of the clip was jut at the end of the thread before the cable goes solid. it should line up pretty close to there for you too.

but may require some adjustment.
