OMG It's So Comfy Having This Armrest I Installed Mine Today...I Can Drive Laid Back Now !!!! Doesnt Interfer With Shifitng At All

i hear ya man...i juss discovered a new problem...now its kinda hard to hard to use the front seats to make love to ur gf...that armrest is in the way

well you should never be doing that in your cobalt in the first place, its bad luck, and secondly



does anybody know where to get silver metal piece to attach the arm rest to, all i have is the screws, the arm rest, and the cup holders but not the silver piece..

At gmpartsdirect.com they have them and I believe there is an option of 3 differant colors. I personally purchased mine on ebay, was a little cheaper and arrived brand new in gm parts box. I gave 61.00 for the armrest and 25 shipping. Well worth the investment, not a lot of storage space but anything is better than nothing. GM's reasoning for not installing it standard on all models especially the manuals is because it could interfere with the ebrake, al least that is the reason I was given. All in all, a mod worth doin!!

i have the arm rest and the cup holder, purchased on ebay, but it didnt come with the silver box that you attach the arm rest to, so thats what im trying to find.

You could try a junk yard like "U Wrench It" or equivelant. Anyplace that would let you remove the part yourself. Or try going to your local GM dealership parts department and ask them if they would look up the part number for the center console mounting base. Once you have the part number, a few more doors should open up to you. Good luck in your search. Worst case, you could always order another armrest and sell the one you have.

I think it would be easier to just buy the part from gmpartsdirect. Cause now you have to wait for someone to buy it, cause no ones goin to take there's apart to measure lol. It's only 25$ and it'll save you alot of headaches.

I installed my armrest today and I noticed that is rubbing on the passenger seat.
Anyone else have this problem?

No not having any rubbing problems. Shifting the car is def better without the armrest although I cant complain that on the highway it's very nice to have.

I don't take mine off either. I can contest shifting with it off is a lot faster/easier.

just bought it, painted it, and went to install.. and i forgot the damn cupholders!... oh well im gonna have to figure it out cuz i bought the thing about 2 hours away from me at a junk yard and it was the only one out of 7 wrecked cobalts that had it... oh well

I just installed my armrest yesterday and it's awesome. Fits beautifully but just rests up against the passenger seat. I did find pulling the rubber boot off the hand brake made it easier to get a wrench in place for the two screws up front on the mounting bracket. I went for a bit of a drive afterwards and it was much more relaxing having somewhere to rest my arm instead of dangling there. The storage is a big plus too. I don't have to use my cup holder to store my sunglasses now.
