You might wanna do an entire Trans flush when you swap your axles, depending on what fluid you used

My dealership was pretty adiment about it requiring the specific lube

And yeah Chong was an awesome show, despite the loud thug wannabe's that I almost got into a brawl with.

Oh well, they goot booted, and then pulled back in and arrested when their Credit Card got rejected for their tab,

Correct! The bottle says Saturn synthetic manual tramission lubricant IIRC. That ***** like $14 per quart too!

Oh, it's not necessary to remove the disk to get the axles in. With my 3 clutch replacements (ClutchMasters fiasco) You can remove one or two nuts (axle nut & tie rod or sway bar?), and turn the assebly inward and up, IIRC. It's been awhile, but it will save some time there.

Good point.

The new axles are slightly longer though (they have ~1/2" of extra thread stock) so I don't know how much tougher that would make them to re-assemble,, but you could def save some time this way. I had never done them before though, so I just pulled everything off, to give myself more room to work and take pics

And yeah the trans fluid def. says Saturn on it. But my dealership told me it was closer to 3 qts,, I didn't do a whole flush though, so I have no clue. I bought 3 containers just to be safe, but only used a little bit, as I didn't spill much at all.

The new axles being a 1/2" longer could make a difference. Hmmmm.... Well, I need to replace the brakes when I get back anyhow.

It really doesn't add that much time to the process to pull them off, and it makes it a lot easier to work down there without a rotor in your way. But if you hafta swap one out at the track, that'd be the way to do it.

On a related note, I have a set of stock axles to sell now, if someone is looking for a spare for track days. Beats getting stuck with a big towing bill (believe me)

Yeah I wish I would have just bit the bullet and bought some drilled and slotted rotors to swap out while I was at it, but I still have some other places to drop that cash first.

Namely exhaust, and the HPtuners

Thanks again man. I still can't get over how much smoother everything feels now.

I need to get back to the track ASAP now. If I'm not well into the 13's before winter who knows what I'll talk myself into buying for her next, lol

I'm honestly a little surprised more people haven't needed this yet. Maybe we are through the the bad batch of axles that kicked everyone's asses so bad last summer? Here's to hoping, lol.

For those smart enough to buy them before the stockers grenade out, that's definitely the way to go.

I was pissed off enough seeing the tow bill back home for mine,,, can't imagine how much to get her down to Intense, lol.

Seriously though, that's an awesome deal. The install isn't too bad, but having Intense do it for free is sweet,, plus you save on shipping,, Win, win and a win

I want to do this install. I just got the bushings yesterday. I don't have access to a press, and I don't know about the vise. How bad are the stock bushings pressed in there?? Could you easily turn the vise by hand to take them out?? How hard compared to stock were the poly ones to re-install?? Thanks for the help. I have a lot of tools and stuff but my dad has sold all of his heavier shop equipment. I'm just trying to see if I can knock this mod out this sunday.

My CAB install

I did the install today. It didnt take very long, and I would reccommend anyone who wants to stop wheelhop doing this first. There is no detrimental effect, and the wheelhop is gone. I would be glad to help anyone in south fl. with the install. Here are some pics for ya. Some various pics of the install, my pretty brakes,

Sorry that I didn't see your initial post sooner man, but it looks like you had things under control anyhow. I see you gained access to a press as well, certainly the better way to go about this. It is do-able with a vice, but if you have a press go that way for sure. If you don't mind I'll edit the how-to portion and include your pic with the press to show people how to do them the proper way, lol.

BTW, what size are those snails?, they are freakin huge.

Also, I highly agree, one of the best wheel hop mods available. But I also suggest doin the poly trans mounts, they are much easier, and you'll wonder how you ever drove around without them, lol

EDIT: I dunno why the pics don't show up in my quote,,,, I'm confused,,, anyways

Yeah, I took more pics but nothing that you didn't already cover. The turbos are huge, they are used on 1300HP diesels. The shop was where my dad works, it is a marine diesel engine shop. The boss ok'd me to use the press. Made it super easy. How much vibration do you get with the trans mounts?? I am thinking about them, but it depends on how much wheelhop I will get with this setup.

He was just kidding, read the post above. Even one of those turbos would be just about impossible to spool up on our engines.

I didn't think the vibes from the trans mounts were too bad, reminds me of how my camaro and other V8's I've owned used to lope at idle. Certainly noticeable, but they decreased over the summer (it helps that it was ungodly hot when I installed mine and for the break-in).

Yeah, those turbos go on about 11 liters of displacement, at 16:1 compression. Our cars would not spool them. If I added them in the front, I would gain some nice traction though. Those bitches weigh like 40 pounds.
