You would just destroy the carrier bearing doing that, or the axle, or both.

It shouldn't leak, so it's probably not in all the way. If you can see the shiny spline part of the axle it isn't in far enough. It should pop in to place, there's a spring clip on the end of the inner spline that keeps the axle snug in the diff.

nice write up! didn't read through all of it just the first page but do you know the torque specs for everything you need to swap axles out?

I was looking at the OP's rust-free suspension and noticed he was from Michigan. First I figured there was no way this guy drove his car in the winter. Second I thought those bushings came out way too easily.

Then I saw the thread was from 2006... lol
