Italian Joe,,, I had another suggestion for ya. A friend of mine (SSpartan on here) wants to do the trans mounts too, but is pretty concerned about the vibes. So we are looking into drilling some holes in the bushings for his to soften them up a bit.

(These are how the RK trans mounts on my cavy are made, sorry for the blurry pic)

I can't think of any reason that this wouldn't work, on our cars as well. So long as the holes are cut cleanly, not too big, and don't have any jagged edges to lead to failure later on. I've never drilled into Poly before so I don't know how difficult this will be or if any special tools would be required. But I imagine anyone with the right tools and patience would be able to pull it off with a drill press and a carbide bit. Might be an option. Any one else have any opinions on this?

I'm happy with mine as is, but people wanting to minimize vibrations this could be a solution,,, anyone wanna be a guinea pig? I'm not sure when SSpartan plans on doing his,,, I know he already has the bushings, and we'll be doing the install in my garage, but I have no drill press, so I left that part on him.

This is a great write up. I did my clutch/flywheel and pressure plate and thought why not swap out the axles since I'll be right there. Everything went well with the axles, the clutch/flywheel was another story. Have a few questions:

1.) The axles are installed correctly if you put eveything back together and it all fit well. Rolled the car out of the garage because the clutch is not bled yet. If the axles were not installed correctly tranny and mainshaft would not of connected right? Also would of had problems pushing the car? I'm such a newbie to this kind of mods. I just don't want to start the car and be rolling down the road and my axle come out or something lol.

2.) Some people seem to use 75w-90 Max Gear Oil (Royal Purple) for the tranny fluid, is that a correct fluid for the LSJ tranny?

I haven't done my clutch/flywheel yet, so my LSJ/F35 knowledge there is rather limited. But it's pretty easy to tell if the axles were properly installed or not. Visually you can tell if they are fully seated at the trans housing, (or intermediate shaft on the Pass side.) If they are fully seated on the inner side, than there really isn't any way to mess them up if everything went back together proper.

The outers are controlled by the hubs and front componenets, so if you got everything to bolt back up you should be good. If those things are right than there is no way for the axle to come out while you are driving down the road.

I'm not sure if that is the right Royal Purple fluid or not. I just used the GM/Saturn stuff when I did mine.

Thanks alot. Something just did not look right on the one side (forget which side) It looked like the axle was not all the way in however everything did bolt up no problems. When I tried to pull the axle back out (to see if it was in all the way) it would not come out. There was a ever so slight of gap between the axle and where it went into the transmission. I guess since it all bolts up fine it must be ok. Anyways, +rep and thanks for the info. Now all I need to do is buy some break fluid DOT3 Hydrolic fluid, find out if I can use the Royal Purple stuff I mentioned before. Where is the best place to buy CABS?

Hard to say without seeing a pic of the gap you're talking about. But it sounds like you'll be ok.

As for CABs I'd suggest INTENSE. But I have a set of the JBP CABs lying around, PM me if you're interested.

Mine are in good shape, but I saw a thread where a guys fell apart, so I ordered the new style from INTENSE. But I have a guy that can getthese refilled if they ever do go bad.

Anywho, if you want em lemme know and I'll make you a good deal.

Yeah, that was me. I had JBP ones, the ones I took pics of installing for this thread. They lasted about 4 months and both were shot. I bought the Intense ones and they seem to be good so far, but i really haven't checked them.

^Yeah I've been happy with my Intense mounts so far.

My JBP ones were in good shape when I pulled them off, but I didn't wanna risk it.

But the owner of Cobaltperformance parts said he can get them refilled with better poly for really cheap, so if anyone wants them it's def. a cheaper way to get some CAB's

I'll let mine go for $100 shipped. And you can use them as is,,, but check them regularly, just to be safe. Or send them to him and get them re-filled for a few bucks.

I have to check, I had a local SRT-4 shop looking into spherical ball mounts, I gave them my blasted JBP ones as templates. Gotta swing by there and check soon.

YEah It can be done alot quicker for sure, but I did my CAB's at the same time so I just went through a much more thorough tear down.

I upgraded to the DSS right away, didn't wanna hafta do it again, lol

Do they make black inserts for the control arms? I hate that everything has to be a different color than stock. To me it throws a red flag at the dealer.
