The hoses do not need to be steel braided at all. You can use regular heater hose, as it won't see the temps that regular heater hose system would see for your radiator. You can ask for heater hose from NAPA or any other parts store. It's probably one of the more common things you can buy, and are usually sold in reels like rope. You can usually buy it by the foot or by the entire reel. Let me check my how to note for sizing...........

Yeah I think I used 5/8" for the main hoses and 5/16" for the air bleed retun line (if you have one). You'll need something to cut the hoses (knife or clippers), hose clamps (many many many) and a schwack load of T fittings and 90 degree fittings. I personally made 2 trips to the store for clamps hose and fittings during the install (dual pass, h/e and surge tank).
Hope that helps. Give yourself a day, and have a friend's car ready to get more supplies if needed.
Just reading your post again - If all you are doing is adding an extra H/E, you shouldn't need nearly as much hose clamps and fittings as a dual pass install with tank.

lol, bumping this old thread. will try this asap!
one way to think of it, when you install a upgraded intercooler on a turbo car you dont plumb it in with the stock one.....you replace the stock one. this makes WAY more sense

I want to buy one of these, but have a question
has anybody ran this with the stock H/E in place, or does it not fit? how does it compare to one that keeps the stock H/E, for example zzp?

I'm currently running my stock H/E as well as the Cxracing H/E. Fits fine. Not sure how it compares to only running the Cxracing H/E but I'm sure it can't hurt to just run both.

Mine sits really low too. The previous owner (a friend of mine) installed the H/E before I bought the car. I went through two radiators this summer when I was lowered due to the H/E hitting the ground, swinging back and snapping the lower bracket out of the end tank on the rad. I now keep a spare one in my garage since it's my DD and it's like a 5-7 day shipping period from Montreal I'm just going to build lower brackets for the H/E that will bolt to tabs that I'll weld on the subframe so that it can't move. The H/E is tough as hell though. Mine's twisted and has a HUGE dent in the bottom of it but still isn't leaking.

WOW!! the same exact thing is happening to me. And i could figure out why. i guess i have to remount the heat exchanger and i will stop going through so many radiators lol
