ok. now that i'm all mad here's the story. I took mine each off the chrome base, the front one didn't struggle at all, but the back one took a little bit of wriggling under the hairdryer... I sanded them down to the gold again, painted on 3 coats of dupli-color GM black paint, then 3 coats of the clear coat gloss, and these things looked pristine. I mean my friend even said he thought i had gone out and bought them made that way. So I was very happy. And now I'm mad because all the time it took me to do them right like that was ruined when I went up to the body shop today. He was getting some scratches out of my door for me, so I asked him if he had the tools to stick these suckers back on, and he told me he would. When I got it back, it looked like the paint melted or something and they got their prints in it and sticky and ****. and they're just foam taped on to the chrome base. It looks like @$$. I'll never ask that again that's for sure, and now I'm going to just buy some new ones, either already black or just off of someone elses car. any ideas where to look?

Tried painting my bowtie for the first time but got some spray on the chrome. Any safe way to take this off?

scratch it off with your finger nail or a razor blade. any paint i've used hasn't stuck to the chrome very well at all. shouldn't be hard to get it off.

if that's not cheap enough for you just search for "chevy cobalt emblem" and you'll find plenty. I found both for under $10. they're painted they just need the clear coat and i'll put them on tomorrow

you can probably use adhesive remover and a blowdryer. i used it on the plastic trim that was on the doors and im sure it would work well for the bowtie also.

That white looks good dude.

And now my final product.
Sanded with 800, then 600, then 400 to get all the paint off.
Sprayed on 4 coats of Duplicolor GM Black paint.
Then Sprayed on 3 coats of Duplicolor Clear Coat.

Just doing this now, almost on to the clear coat. I had alot of difficulty removing the badge from the chrome backing using a blow dryer. So i chucked the entire thing in a pot of water set at medium heat. Not enough to boil the water, just to make it really hot. So i would pry it a little, then put it back in and heat it up. I eventually got it off. So if anyone is having troubles removing the badge like i was i would sugguest this method.

I painted my front bowtie about 3 weeks ago. 3 coats of color, and 6 coats of duplicolor clear. The paint looked perfect right after it was done, as you can see in this picture:

But now, there are some "wrinkles" in the paint or clearcoat, shown here:

What would cause this to show up after 3 weeks of being perfectly fine?
