Appearance: How-to paint your factory 18's
When you take off the stock paint with the thinner, should you also get those sections that are in the back area and in between the spokes, or just tape off those parts when you are using the paint thinner?

I told the mechanic I know about this. He told me not to do it because I would "hate the finish". He said it would be very uneven and "blochey" and that I should take it to a place to have it done. Is your finish uneven or bumpy or runny?

No problem Kemble, I was having too much fun w/ paint that day anyways, lol
You will probably get the best results by removing the tires while you do this, it will also make the rims easier to handle.
However, I don't think it'd cause you any problems if you left the tires on while you painted. It would just make the masking step more difficult, and it will not be as easy to handle as the rim alone.
