Ran into a small problem when trying to put the G5 cluster.
My RPM is about 300 lower than with the original cluster.
Tried to replace the needle but everytime the cluster drops the needles below 0 after about 5 seconds of inactivity.

Anyone else experience this?

Thanks

Actually some clusters do not transfer over the mileage. Check before changing. I had a Trailblazer that did not work like we think it should.

Not saying it wont just check before spending your money. You may be wasting it.

I installed a G5 cluster and all the settings got transfered.
I seems that everything is kept in the computer, not the cluster it self.

Having said that, I still have my issue with the tach.

clusters need to match the year of the vehicle.....like 05-06, 07 or 08...since they like to switch up our computers....so if you have an 06 you need a cluster thats off an 05-06 car....and if its an 07 you need an 07 cluster....the wiring changed...if you try and install an 05 cluster in an 07 the DIC wont work....so good luck

Do you have to remove the trim on both sides of the steering wheel, or do you just remove the part of the trim with the dimmer knob on it?

you remove both side pieces, you this by simply pulling on them, firt pull on your plastic thing under the wheel the cover, it will pop off, than pop the pieces out, than take the 2 nut things offf than pull the bezel out, helps to wiggle it out towards the driver side, with your door open, than take the bolts that hold the cluster off

05s-06s will work in only those. 07s and up will work perfectly alright in 07s and 08s. I assume 09s too but don't take my word for that..

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I have just moved to Canada with my US Cobalt and was having trouble with the KPH thing so I bought a speedometer from LKQ near Toronto. I was worried I would have to get the PCM reprogrammed for the ICP like I did when I installed an MP3 player. I read your post and took a chance - now I have an ICP that works and converts all the speeds and mileage etc to the metric system. Amazing!!! I think you saved me about $400. Much appreciated.

For all those who switched to the white face/140mph cluster, does the DIC display the original mileage without taking to the dealer?

I just ordered an 08 G5 cluster for my 08 Ls last night, saw this mod and knew it will help with my plans, especially with a full interior LED swap, will let you know how it goes when it arrives and I get around to installing it
