i just did this mod and to be honest i didn't really notice a thing. I dont know if me having the k&n drop in filter has anything to do with it but this is just my opinion. maybe if u just have a stock filter it makes this difference you guys are talking about. Sound and fuel mileage aslo seem to be unchanged.. good wieght reduction tho
Just did this mod on my car Friday- I love it! It sounds bad ass when you break the ~3500 rpm mark under load. Dont dick with the headlight way... Just take out the ten bolts or whatever and two clips in the fender well.
(First post btw.)

I took mine out through the headlight opening. I had to twist it around a little but it finally came out.
I get a real nice deep sound between 2000 and 3000 rpm. Also I have a flowmaster exhaust so maybe that helps. I don't notice improvement in either performance or MPG but it sounds really nice.
Oh, I did this about 3 months ago and haven't noticed any negative issues.

less air turbulence and quick throttle response. IAT's might be slightly higher but I can guarantee the pros outweight the cons. While it may be small, maybe 1whp? The extra throttle response is really nice, and it sounds better to boot
i did this and to be honest the "increased horsepower/throttle response" seems like a placebo effect to me...however the sound is definitely noticable from 3 to 4 k rpms.....according to my DIC my mpg went up slighty but I've been doing alot of driving on the highway so that might be the true factor. I'm eventually adding in a CAI or other intake because imo restricted airflow is better than hot airflow from being right next to the engine..

you should have removed the silencer when you installed the intake. if you didn't, it might not make a huge difference, but it might allow that K&N to pickup a little more cold air because that huge piece of plastic wont be there
again, VERY small difference if any, but if you decrease your IAT's by 10degrees thats not bad either
"bugle" mod
-haha first of all you shouldn't have to take the fender off and the factory air filter box has a 2.5inch tube mounted on the bottom of it that one end of the "bugle" resonator fits into. When you put everything back together, the hole is still there, NOT blocked in any way

i wish i had a picture, i'd show ya
i did this mod a month or two ago and now i changed it up a lil bit a week ago.. i took all the "mushroom" stuff off of the factory tube itself.. so now i just have a plain straight tube that uses the two factory bolt locations. i did this to prevent the possible "sucking in hot air theory".. It sounds basically the same but i think it is better. just an opinion!

I have the solid front bumper and cut slots where the horizontal lines are. You cant see it cause I painted the back part black. I dont really know if that helped any but I like the piece of mind that it isnt relying on the attempt of air coming in from the lower radiator grille.
