I did this today. It was fairly easy, took me and my friend about 20 minutes. Didn't even have to jack up the car. I turned my wheels all they way to the right so i had better clearance for the bolts that hold on the splash guards. I took a total of about 8 screws and i had that baby out.

Sounds so much meaner, and with a k&n air filter it seems to take away all the lag you would get when you push it.

Hm. Would this work with a 2.4L as well?

OK, for all of you 2.4L's out there. I just tested this on my car today, it does, 100% work. Only difference is, you'll need to cut off the ends of the air silencer to have enough space to get it out. Took me about 2 hours all together, but then again, I know very little about engines and what not.

I have a 2.4L SS/NA ecotec, and it made a very nice change in tone, and it feels noticeably peppier.

for those of you wondering about fuel mileage increase, I couldnt believe it. I did this a couple days ago and on my way home from North Carolina, I saw an increase of 3.5 miles per gallon. This is the only thing I have ever done to try to increase the mileage. I went 420 miles with an average speed of 70 mph with the A/C on. Well worth the 30 minutes or so that it takes to do.

your better of just putting a new cold air intake on, esp if ur going through the work of ripping out that intake box and ****, , then ur new intake filter will sit down in that spot behind the bumper, and ur engine will look better and it will sound better... but yea i just did my intake 2 days ago, and look at all the factory plastic **** i had to rip out of the intake system, jus to install the cold air one.. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...ow/plastic.jpg

and after....

I had the hacksaw out and everything, but I couldn't do it to the poor car. I'll have to find some other way of getting that bolt off and replacing it instead of just cutting it off. :P

it came to about $87.00 with shipping and everything. the intake on ebay is only like 62, but he jacked up the shiipping like 25 dollars which makes it 87, which is still not bad at all compared to most intakes...

yea know the easier way to get a throaty as hell sound out of it.....pop the air box, keep the inside "clips" still in place, and just lift up on the outside edge. put the outside clips underneath the filter if ya can.

and then crumple a piece of paper and stick it on the outside between the upper intake housing, and the wall of the engine bay. it works rather great. saves the trouble of even worrying about the resonator box until u decide to get your true CAI.

Just took this thing out.

My GOD is it big!!!

Took the wheel housing out in front of the tire, and that pin was completely accessible. I used a door-panel-puller to pull it out, worked wonderful!

Took the headlight/bucket out and unbolted that 10mm bolt underneath the front, and pulled it out from underneath.

It's a little louder, but I didn't do a whole lot of revving or anything...

Why would you do that? That's so NOT in the vicinity of where you do this mod, but then again...valid question.
