It won’t be affected. The XM signal is received by from the black rectangular satellite receiver on the roof of your car. It's above the rear window. I'll take a pic of mine for you if you don’t know what I’m talking about.

To confirm, yes... the black square on the top of the car is the XM antenna. If you do not listen to regular radio, you do not need to have the antenna on the back of the car.

I just used a BIG vacuum cap lol

I put electrical tape on the threads to beef 'em up a little and pushed it on. I don't really go to automatic car washes so no prob, but if i did... gone. lol And radio is crap but I use my ipod 99% of the time.

Your tip looks the same as the one I put on mine. I used one of the rubber tips from the handle of a Pet Taxi.

I have mine about 14" and only one radio station gets crappy reception (it's never had strong signal though). All the others work great.

Yeah, 14 will put it just a tad over the height of the roof. I mostly shortened mine because it was always hitting low tree branches.

i used the plati-dip stuff (the rubberized grip you see on tools and random crap) over the end of my antenna when i cut it. looks more oem IMO, and so far it's lasted 2 years (including michigan winters) with no damage
