Funny. I never had a problem changing the oil. I found it rather easy compared to some vehicles.

i just got my oil changed about a week ago, my lsj has 240k on it and stil runs mint. however, i went against the obvious recommendation of mobil super and put penzoil platnum full synthetic. is this at all harmful to the engine? i highly doubt it, just thought id inquire

Should be alright if its 5W-30. You could probably get away with a different weight depending on tempature. But as long as it's Full Synthetic 5W-30 it should be okay.

It's fine. Pennzoil Platinum, Quaker State Full Synthetic, and other synthetics are good oils to use. Their 5W-30 synthetics usually meet GM 4718M anyhow, so it's ok to use even under warranty as long as it meets GM 4718M.

Mobil 1 0W-30 actually meets GM 4718M also.

I'm about to do an oil change on my turbocharged ss, is there some kind of filter I have to change on the turbocharger like there is on the supercharger? Or is it just more simple, less work, do nothing with the tc? just a straight up oil change?

Just changed the oil on my SS T/C 2nite. Was super easy... other than the 1.5 quarts of oil that spilled on my garage floor, lol. Be careful of where u put ur jack stands ppl! One of the jack stands cockblocked my oil container and it didn't catch the 1st 1.5 quarts as it squirted out toward the rear of the car 18". A bag of kitty litter is holdin' me down right now, lol

When it says to "oil/lube the rings", where exactly is that? On the threads on the actual filter?

There is a reason that Mobil 1 is on the oil cap. I have 192K miles on mine and I have always used Mobil 1.

Yes the reason is that Mobil gives it to GM for free if they print that on the cap

Still good oil though
