There are more, I'll check with my local performance shop tomorrow, see what else he recommends.

Hey Joe,
Found some check valves. Which one would you recommend?

Got response from Aeromotive Joe, but I'm not satisfied.

Here is

Jose,

The check valve is fine. The pressure is bleeding back on the return line. This is normal for adjustable regulators. The system should have prime cycle of 2-3 seconds to make the start easier.

Hey guys, just curious about the check-valve issue. It was my understanding that one could be used on the main fuel line between the fuel pump and regulator (after fuel filter), as well as on the return-line. Is that not the case?

You got me on that. But, yes, my mechanic and I where thinking of putting one in the main fuel line. Still, I think I'll buy another check valve from Earl performance. This one holds 150 psi max of fuel pressure. Problem is it cost $100 and I'm not sure if it will hold enough in order to not prime the car.

I was thinking the combination of the two Aeromotive valves would do a good job together, but, I guess will have to wait and find out.

This is my second email to Aeromotive:

My response for Aeromotive
That's what I thought. It was the only explanation that fuel was bleeding back on the return line. Still I have to prime the car for more than 2 seconds for it to start. What about If I insert another check valve in series with the already installed valve? Will it hold more fuel? Thanks Jared.

Response from Aeromotive about using in-line check valves:
Jose,

The fuel is going back on the bypass line so placing another check valve inline with the other will do nothing.

Thanks,
Jared ***

Well then, I have to wonder if something is different with the adjustable regulator than most that is creating this issue. My assumption was that fuel would not bleed past the regulator at low pressure.

This may have been covered earlier, but I've got a quick one. Doesn't Walbro make an in-tank pump we could use that has it's own check-valve...

excellent write up!.

though still completely useless IMO at the power levels most of us are using.

LE5 engines don't come w/ a fuel pump, just a little alcoholic gerbil trapped in the fuel tank.

Actually, that's a completely invalid assumption. There are statistically too many situations where fuel economy has increased when switching from returnless to a return-style, and far too many instances where lack of fuel at high rpms is what is limiting power.

I'm not going to waste my time proving a point you don't seem to want to hear. There are article after article out there about people putting '97 vette fuel systems on 98+ vettes and f-bodies that go over all this (the '97 vette was the only LS1 to come from the factory with a return-style system). Furthermore, for proper fuel control, any forced induction engine should have fuel pressure referenced to boost. Otherwise you are not spraying the amount of fuel the computer thinks it is.

what does that have to do with the LSJ?
just because something works on another engine means nothing.

Im more than willing to hear it actually.
my point is, up till now, the only thing we have heard about returnless, is theory and speculation.

there is no proof that the LSJ requires, or benefits at all, from a return fuel system at our power levels.

please, seriously, if you can show proof of it, im VERY happy to eat crow and believe returnless would be a good modification.

The fact that every race Ecotec other than the Time attack Cobalt uses one doesn't clue you in?

You keep saying "our" power levels. I'm not sure what power level that is. Personally, I know My engine is being horsepower limited by a lack of fuel, IE, my injectors aren't big enough with the current setup.
