Hey,
I was just thinking about starting a thread like this. I live in the SW corner of WI, so the WI car clubs are too far for me to be a part of. I am more than 2 hours from Milwaukee, where most of the members live. I am only 15 minutes from Iowa. How about some sort of Mid-central, North central, IA, IL, WI, MN, quad cities, 4 corners club or post section?? I know there are a few members from Iowa, quad cities, SW WI, and so on. I have mentioned meeting up at "Earlsville", I think it is, for drag racing. A few others said OK, but no plans were made. I would love to go before the summer ends and snow sets in. I have no problem driving an hour or more to meet up, whatever...... It would be nice to get help on projects, trade parts, just meet a few mwmbers of the forum. I can think of 5 or 6 forum members that might be close enough..... thoughts????

well: shsballa023, you and me are about 4 hours apart, probaly not possible....Cedarsburg is half way.... where is the nearest drag strip to where you live, Des moines..??

Eh i already did my big meet for this year (CED Meet in chicago) Plus i work a lot more now so its hard for me to get time off. Lately ive been going to marshalltown to help out. as a matter of fact i get shipped there again next week. Its a little over an hour drive but i hate putting so many miles on this car. I haven't had it a year and ive already put over 20,000 miles!

There's a drag strip near Oskaloosa (Eddyville). I've been there before. I think they do races at the Newton speedway too, but I've never gone.

don't forget the smell, been here a year and still am not used to it....

I drag race at Earlville at least once a month, I'm gonna head out again on the 31st. I usually sign up for trophy class just to get a few passes. Its nice to bracket race against the faster cars, they really hate it when you beat them.....

I think the cow pasture smell is more WI, unless you count Dubuque..... In WI we have cornfields, cows, and lots of run-down bars....

Does anyone know if the track at Earlville is open for racing other than weekends?? I would have a hard time making it on a Sunday... I have never been to a drag strip but I really want to try it out... even if I totally suck at it.... hehe

Earlville will have races Aug 30th which is a saturday, if I don't have to work that day I can make that day instead of the 31st. Its a 35 dollar entry fee for trophy or TestandTune.

Sometimes you can get a few passes in before prelims start, then you get two or three passes for prelim and then the bracket racing begins. I usually get a minimum of 4 passes on race days.

There is another track in Cedar Falls about 1.5 hours from Dubuque. They have a friday fun night from 6pm till 9pm and this saturday the 23rd is a Harley and Hot Rod event. I've never been there though so I don't know what its like.

Hey I'm in the NW corner of IL only 10 min from Iowa. If the guys from the QCA and Dubuque want to get together and race you could meet up at Cordova Dragway. It's in IL right across from Clinton IA. pretty much and they have friday night racing.

Cordova is an awesome strip. Best thing you can get next to a NHRA Pro strip. They have many national events there and NOPI was even there a couple of years back. My home and favorite strip is still Byron Dragway but that is a far far drive for most of you. I'm kind of lucky. I live right in the middle. Cordova is 30 miles from me and Byron is 30 miles from me.
