i think headgasket. was doing a log for a retune from matt, all of a sudden got knock and lost power with white smoke. Coolants drained out, no leaking from the block or anywhere near it. No oil mess or anything like that. Nice milkshake in the head, and it sounded like pinging coming from the valve cover but all the rockers and such were in tact.
ftw indeed. it sounds pretty beast, but I also have a custom 2.5 catback. My bro works at an exhaust shop so all my work is done free, and I have all the 2.25 sections cut out with 2.5 replaced.
I'm about to order my exhaust...this thing is entirely too quiet in stock form...

So i may have a big decision coming up might be getting deployed soon and im either going to keep my car do a build either a 2.1 fully built motor with 259et and then later on do a new tranny or just sell my car get a Evo or GSX then build it with a 2.0 buschur motor and just basically do an all out build. i was thinking maybe gsx find a nice one stock or so that is clean for 8-10 grand or something then have a ton of money for a build on the gsx or just buy a built evo im not sure yet

As Tommy said...don't buy a DSM. Parts are getting harder and harder to come by for those things. And things break on them...frequently. I've had all the brands of DSM...Laser turbo. Talon...and my beautiful 97 GSX that was bone stock and owned by an old man...each and every one of them was a massive money pit. I spent thousands of dollars fixing those things...to the point that I didn't get to really modify them...if you like wrenching broken **** on a rusty car that's over a decade old...be my guest...but the wiser decision would be getting an Evo.
Ya but if i did get a dsm id throw a evo motor in it and everthing. But i think the 2.0 is better than a 2.3 cause you can rev higher but its a personal choice really i suppose. If its a fully built dsm shouldnt have to many problems and my buddy does body work so he could always fix all the rust and what not for me. But theres 2 built evos thats why im contemplating buying an evo
Your right a 2.0 can rev higher, and would be a better drag motor most likely. I just like the 2.3 because it's better as a daily driver. Or so I've always been told. Interested in their 2.4 as well.

And newer EVO motors don't fit in DSMs. And there's no point in buying an old Evo6 or earlier motor and putting it in...it's all the same stuff. You'd be wiser to just build the stock motor.
Here's why Evo 8 and 9 motors don't fit in DSMs:
Evo engine bay

DSM engine bay

Everything is on the opposite side. Transmission. Timing belt. The whole lot. Thus, they don't work.
