I love my cobalt but I need some help...
Hi yall, My first car was an arctic white SS, I busted my ass to pay off the car note. In 2019 I had a rollover accident and the insurance totaled her.
This spring, my husbands friend moved to NY and didnt need his car anymore, it was the same year and model but dark gray / "Black".
We bought it off him for $1600 and it has 92k miles on her but she runs like a gem after fixing 2 hub assemblies and having her balanced.
Its like im reunited with an old friend; Ive been fixing her up, and I decided to join this group since it has been a source of information for me.
When I close my door I get this awful rattle and I think its the lock bar. Window feels solid, door handles feel solid. I replaced the speakers and didn't find anything super loose, I did not go under the plastic though.
I wanted to ask y'all if it could be anything else.
It sounds like a thin piece of metal that rattles from the vibration of the door being closed.
My plan is to go back in and make sure the padding is still behind the lock bar, but I want to be prepared to investigate any other parts that you all have had this issue with.
I appreciate it, and Im happy to be here.

posted about a week ago, and banned?
how did you do that?
Ok, on the off chance you come back here, or anyone else can use this, I'd pop off the door panel to see if something is loose, or if one of the lock mechanism rods is missing the netting around it - my coupe has this rattle (that it has had from new and I keep forgetting to look into) where it only comes up when cruising on the highway...
I think that "dark grey" is actually a metallic black colour called 'black granite metallic' a rather rare colour that I neglected to include in my 'total/final production' thread many years back.
I am guessing your old car and this new one are both 2010 coupes... and IMHO you got a smoking deal!

yeah it's a resonating rattle for me;
it cycles almost with drivetrain vibrations... but only on occasion when cruising on the highway.
With the rust on my doors now, odds are I won't ever fix it;
I have replacement doors cleaned up, I just need to swap all the guts - as these donor doors are from a base car with crank windows;
I'll be swapping in all the power stuff - hopefully I kept it all from the white '09 SS I parted ages ago;
While I am in there I will be sure to look for any rods being properly installed, and shielded so they don't vibrate.
