Okay that makes sense. The base model brakes suck on my car, couldn't imagine them on an SS.
Anyways, welcome. Looks like a good project.

Edit; And unfortunately unless I find a wrecked SS, I can't put the 5 lug hubs and discs back on the rear. The cross member has the Caliper bracket welded to it so I can't just put a bracket on my rear cross member.
damn...that's some **** right there. Welcome aboard!

I've had it since July, 2012. It has a horrible background story before I got a hold of her. She'd been wrecked (no frame damage) and parted out of the good SS features for money. I've slowly been bringing her back to glory. Replacing broken or missing stock parts and fixing the engine/tranny. It had 65k hard miles put on it. I'd list everything I've fixed and replaced but that would be a big list. Lol.

I'm in the Gulf Coast of Mississippi region. A friend of mine is already on this site and showed it to me. Has the exact same car I do. I'm a Service Technician at a Chevy Dealership, have been for 2 years now. I've left my engine stock and I'm focusing on the looks of my car first, then I might play with the engine but nothing drastic. She's my DD.
Welcome. bro thats awesome. Glad to see someone piecing that balt back together! I had a salvage 07 SS 2.4L Auto in silver, and I loved it! I really really hated selling it, but I needed the $ and I only had $3800 in it and the guy gave me $6K cash..hard to say NO!

I want to get another one again some day..

Its a good feeling to take something crappy and polish it up. Great sense of accomplishment

Geez that car has been through a lot. Glad to see you're cleaning it up. Are you planning on going to Scraping the Coast with it?

I have some black painted SS wheels off my old 06 ss/sc if you plan on going back to ss hubs. You can have them. They need tires.

Oh ya, she went through a horror story before me. Ya I'm at Scrapin' The Coast every year, even if I'm on foot. Lol. 2 years ago, the guy that got hit and passed away on the OS bridge on his bike, that was my best friend. I was on my way to meet him down there when I got the call.

And if I could find the rear cross member somewhere on a wrecked SS I would go back to 5 lug 4 wheel disc in a heartbeat but I can't find it anywhere. I'm scared to even price it at my dealership. Lol.

Check the classifieds on here. There usually a couple of wrecked SS being parted out.

I'm sorry about your friend. I remember that. I might go to scrapin this year.

I will have to swing by and come meet you one day. I would like to see Richard again too. Its been years since I last seen him. Maybe grab some lunch and talk cars.

Are you a tech?

I've been looking through the Classifieds throughout the day. Haven't found one yet but I haven't gotten that far either. I posted a wanted thread a second ago.

Sounds good to me. I'm gonna text him once I know he's off work and ask him if he remembers you. I'm sure he wouldn't mind. He just got all kinds of work done on his up here at the dealership chasing down a ghost hesitation. We finally got rid of it, and ya I am. Apprentice Tech right now, working my way up.

Sweet. I'm down there for work everyday of the week, but I'm down on the weekends sometimes with friends and what not. I haven't been to any of the local car meets or anything in a long time. I'm usually very busy with church or family stuff on the weekends, but I catch one from time to time. My bro-in-law is big into that car club Kaotik Kreations. Dude named Eggroll is their president. They are all cool people, and they nearly beg me to join, but I just don't have time for a car club. I hang out with them from time to time though at some of their meets. I will have to get in touch with you the next one I try to go to.

I've also got plenty of wrenching time put in on these cars. Since you're a tech you probably don't need much help and have access to all of the resources needed, but I'm offering anyway. Just let me know if I can help with anything. I have a few parts left over from my 06 SS/SC. I will check and see what I have and see if you need any of it. I will keep my eye out for a parts car locally also.

I work 7:30-5:30 Monday through Friday, have Semi Pro Soccer practice Monday and Thursday nights at 7:30 and games on Sundays. I don't have much free time either. I've seen Kaotik a few times.

I have access to more stuff than I even need being at a Chevy Dealer but help is always welcome. If I can't find that rear dead axle soon I'm just going to deal with the 4 lug and drums and get rims. Those steelies gotta go. Lol. If I could just find 1 wrecked SS I'd strip that thing naked and fix all the things that bug me about my car.

Konig Illusion custom wheels in the Pensacola Area - Discount Tire

Gonna get the white painted red. They have them already in red but only for 5 lug, naturally.

Nice. I've been eye balling some BMW replicas.

18x8 CSL Style 5x120 37 Silver Wheel Fit BMW E83 x3 E46 E90 325 328 330 335xi | eBay

$600 a set is right up my alley, but I will have to spend another couple hundred and good wheel adapters so the 5x120 will fit the 5x110 hub. My wife has already informed me that they will have to wait a while though

I'm happy with the SS/TC wheels for now.

You said you're going to repaint the entire car. Do you plan on going back with victory red?

Maybe we should start a discussion thread in the Southeast section so we aren't jamming up your intro thread.

Not a new member anymore, but about a month and a half ago I traded my 06 SS/SC with 99k miles in on this..

2009 SS/TC with 35.5k miles. Had 36k by the time I brought it from Texas back home to MS.

Couple extra pictures of my boy at work's SS/TC 08 with mine and I lowered mine just this past week;

Not a big drop but it looks much better than the gap it had before. Now to throw some 245/40s and fill up the wheel wells.
