Hey everyone, just wanted to say hi. Name's Jeremy, I'm from NY, just got an '08 Cobalt SS, and I've always been into cars and making them fast, so naturally I came here searching for info
So far I've learned quite a bit, and I'm liking what I've read, so thanks so far, and I hope you all have a great Christmas. Cheers!

Welcome! Where in NY are you? I live in Buffalo but am in Albany for the holidays.
As far as mods go: catless downpipe, rotated trans mounts, rear sway bar and a HP tune and you will LOVE the car

Thanks for the welcome guys. I'm in Oswego, about 20 minutes north of Syracuse in case you've never heard of it. Car is stock right now, so I'm just making plans for what I wanna do with it now. From what I read, it looks like I have to start with a tuner, so I'm trying to decide which one to go with...HpTuners seems to be winning so far. Being in NY, I don't think I can pass inspection with the catless dp, and what exactly is the rotated trans mount for? Not sure if I'll be doing anything to change the looks any time soon, I always go with speed first
btw, you guys have some awesome looking rides!

HP Tuners is the way to go. I'd get at least an intake and catless downpipe before you get it tuned. You can always swap your stock downpipe back on for emissions. Rotated trans mounts will help you put the power to the ground (less wheel hop).
Ok, I was under the impression that I wouldn't see any gains from an intake or exhaust unless I got rid of the learn down via hptuners or whatever...sounds good though, intake first...do you have a recomendation for that too?

You are correct, you won't see any gains until tuned. You want to get your parts on first and then go for the tune IMO. I recommend the K&N short ram intake.
