New guy
New guy check in, Was referred to this page from Facebook. Looking to hopefully find some information on my new cobalt. Trying to save this 07 cobalt SS, I have an airbag light all the time. Looks as though everything is connected under seats by the seatbelt, in the steering wheel, I don't see any wires broken. Battery is good. I searched here first already, and aside from rewiring no luck. I'm to the point of testing the whole system, open to any other possibilities before I start ripping the car apart. Thank you in advance I look forward to learning from y'all, I've already found a great deal of good information.
There could be so many things causing this. Bad/disconnected impact sensors. Missing airbags, disconneded air bags, bad connection via the clock spring to the steering wheel. I can remember if a scan toll can pull codes to help determine it but it might be worth paying a diag fee at a Chevy dealer to give you a starting point
I have pulled the steering wheel and did try to visually inspect to at least ensure the required parts seemed to be there and connected. I pulled codes from all modules and did not receive a code pertaining to airbags. I am going to take take one more thorough look today and makes sure I haven't missed something. Thank you very much for the input.
You need to get with someone that has a tech 2 and pull all the codes for the airbag system. Codes need to include the byte symptom as well, then i can give instruction on whats going on most likely. Regular scanners and also alot of aftermarket scanners will not pull these codes properly, i know from personal experience, i have checked with many different ones other techs have here at work and also our own multi brand used car scanner when my LS and my ss had airbag issues because our tech 2 was not working at the time.
the most common failure of these is the passenger seat belt circuit breaks inside the wire insulation down by the floor. I have a fix thread i made for that. If its something else we can go from there but without the codes, your very not likely going to just fix it by looking around and trying parts.

I cant find the thread, (maybe i dreamed i had finished putting one together years ago). But here is a reply I made showing the additional cut and routing of the pass belt tension sensor harness to reduce the chance of repeat damage. https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/prob...5/#post7560097
There is also a link i made in that to the original bulletin that shows where you cut the plastic cover so it isn't pinching the harness as well. Get the codes from a tech 2 and let us know.
