New guy from Mich

Just bought my 2006 Cobalt ss/sc g85 package last week. I've been on the lookout to buy one of these for a while now. It needs a bit of TLC but i'm looking forward to working on it all summer long. I have to get a new front valance panel, a front lower grille, and I'm going to replace the back lower panel. I'm getting after market head lights and going back to the stock rims, the stock rims came with the car when I bought them but they need to be re-finished. The interrior is spotless except I need to change the leather boot. The recaro seats look and feel awesome. Wondering if I should put high milage synthetic oil in it, it has 104,000 miles. I don't know, i love it so far.

I would not put high mileage oil it in myself. I stick with Mobile 1 Synthetic (not high mileage). I am not a certified mechanic, but I am pretty sure high mileage oil caused the timing chain tensioner issues on my 2.2 Ecotech. I just had the timing/balance shaft changed along with regular full synthetic mobile 1 oil, and it still doesn't sound right. going to change the oil again after about 40% on the oil use gauge. It runs fine, but to my untrained ear sounds like the tensioner is still taking a while to function properly after during warmup.
