Old dog, new tricks

Hello everyone, Thank you for having such a group. Im a life long old school hot rodder/ex racer, and I recently came to the conclusion, that I can no longer afford muscle cars, or old hot rods thanks to Barrett Jackson, Gas Monkey Garage, and many others that have driven up the values of the old cars I grew up with. So, rather than give up the hobby all together, I decided to go a different direction. I was looking for a little econobox for a commuter, and asked my cousin what he thought of the Cobalts since he has been a mechanic for GM for quite some time. He said, they are great little cars if they have been taken care of, but to get more bang for your buck, Id try to find a super charged or turbo SS version. After many hours of research, you tube vids, etc....I decided to try and find one. Yesterday, I bought a 2008 Cobalt SS 2.0 Turbo 5 speed. Not a perfect car, it has 140K mostly highway miles, and hasnt been beat on. Its a fun car, has LOTS of power, handles like a go cart and managed to get 33.2 MPG on the trip home with it. What more could a guy want?? I will warn you in advance, I may ask some silly questions as this type of car is TOTALLY out of my comfort zone, so it will be a learning experience. lol.

Welcome to the group. Any and all questions are welcomed here. That is how we keep this forum going.
Just a heads up, these cars are a bit old so the platform is dying off. No a lot of mods you can do. Glad you went with the SS/TC. I got one myself. I got it back in 2011 with 80k. I'm at 195k now.
They are a bit of a rattle box, but the powertrain is solid if you keep the maintenance up.

Thanks for the response, I dont need a lot of mods at my age, it does have a cold air intake, Im just going to address maintenance at first, it has noisy rear wheel bearings, front rotors are warped, windshield is cracked, etc...I ordered the bearings, front & rear rotors brakes, shocks and struts, gonna give her an oil change and plugs, and eventually throw a timing set at it before winter is over.
